Joseph Duggar <\/b><\/a>prioritized his faith after he was arrested for alleged child molestation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m doing good. They had so many people, like, 20 people, to check in this morning that I wasn\u2019t able to [call],\u201d Joseph, 31, told his wife, Kendra Duggar<\/b>, during a phone call while he was in custody at Arkansas\u2019 Washington County Sheriff\u2019s Office late last month, per audio obtained by Us Weekly<\/i>. \u201c[This] is the first time I\u2019ve been out all day myself. It\u2019s been a very encouraging day.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Joseph, he spent most of his time reading the Bible.<\/p>\n

\u201cI read the whole book of Psalms,\u201d he told Kendra, 27, noting he \u201cjust finished\u201d the passage before their call. \u201cI focus on my Bible reading. \u2026 <\/span>This Bible is the New Living Translation. It\u2019s actually been really encouraging, because they have, like, little things below it that kind of either describe it or just give a different perspective of it, of a verse. It\u2019s been really good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joseph was arrested in Arkansas on March 18<\/span><\/a> on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior after allegedly molesting a 9-year-old girl in Florida in 2020. The victim, now 14, told police that Joseph \u201ceventually apologized for his actions\u201d at the time before \u201cthe incidents stopped.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two days later, news broke that Joseph is also facing four counts<\/span><\/a> of endangering the welfare of a minor, second-degree, and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment. Kendra was arrested on the same charges before being released on bond within hours. While speaking on the phone with Joseph, Kendra revealed that she doesn\u2019t presently have custody<\/span><\/a> of their four children.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been praying for y\u2019all. It\u2019s a lot to deal with,\u201d Joseph told his wife, whom he married in 2017. \u201cI\u2019ll continue to pray that things will settle and people will all be good there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Joseph and Kendra have tried to maintain their faith amid their arrests.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first day was really hard for me,\u201d Joseph admitted. \u201cI felt like, as I started reading the Psalms and stuff, I got through. I went through the whole devotional [and read] all the comments they had about different things. I just started reading the Bible today. I was [feeling] pretty anxious this morning, but now I feel really encouraged. I just encourage you to just read the Bible. I was amazed how comforting the psalms are.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, Kendra told Joseph that they will see where \u201cGod takes [them] through all this\u201d to \u201ccome back stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that we\u2019re gonna realize how much we need [God],\u201d he replied. \u201cI think it\u2019s a good place to be. Being dependent on God\u2019s always a good thing. That\u2019s just what I want to encourage you about is to keep remembering that we can depend on God. Even if it\u2019s bad things that come our way, God\u2019s going to keep us right where he wants us, and when you know, right now, it\u2019s probably hard to hear his voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joseph added, \u201cI know it is for me, but it\u2019s the more that we put our efforts towards him, I think he\u2019s going to come through for us. I think that\u2019s one of the promises I\u2019m holding too. God\u2019s gonna be there. I know things are wild and crazy, but you can just remember that in the back of your head.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kendra also believed that her faith has \u201cbeen sustaining\u201d her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very weak, physically, like I\u2019ve never felt quite this week before,\u201d she told her spouse. \u201cI\u2019ve not gone this long without really eating [or] being able to eat. I\u2019ve never been through something this intense. \u2026 Maybe we can just encourage each other with whatever you\u2019re reading.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Joseph, he encouraged Kendra with the words from Psalms.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to encourage you that, no matter what crazy trial we\u2019re going through, God knows where we are in it,\u201d he stated. \u201cEven when we don\u2019t feel him speaking to us and feel we may not feel his presence, he\u2019s still there. \u2026 I\u2019m actually probably going to focus on Psalms, because I think that is really the most encouraging thing that I\u2019ve done. Psalm 119 is one that really focuses on a lot on God\u2019s word and how God\u2019s word is a shelter, it\u2019s a shield, it\u2019s your buckler, it\u2019s all those things.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn a prison phone call, Joseph Duggar\u2018s wife, Kendra Duggar, revealed what his family thinks of his recent arrest. \u201cJust know that everybody loves you, even if they\u2019re disappointed,\u201d Kendra, 27, said in a conversation from Thursday, March 26, later released by TMZ. Joseph, 31, acknowledged that he understood the \u201cdisappointment,\u201d but he \u201cabsolutely\u201d feels [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Joseph continued, \u201cI think that we need to remember that. It\u2019s going to be really hard for you because you\u2019re getting blasted from every angle. But remember that, even when the times are hard, say, \u2018Hey, God\u2019s my shield, God\u2019s my buckler.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Through it all, Joseph planned to continue praying.<\/p>\n
