In Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History, Hugo Vickers writes that whenever Prince Harry called his grandmother, she asked her lady-in-waiting to stay with her.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Queen clearly wanted some moral support and protection \u2026 to ensure there was a record of what was said,” he wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“I think the Queen was also on her guard with Harry because she was so hurt by what he had done.<\/p>\n

In another bombshell claim from Vickers’s new book, the late monarch reportedly refused to meet the couple alone during the 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations, where she was due to meet their daughter, Princess Lilibet.<\/p>\n
\u201cPrince Harry was at (his then-residence) Frogmore Cottage with his wife and two children, the gate adorned with balloons to celebrate baby Lilibet\u2019s first birthday,” he wrote.<\/p>\n
“They visited the Queen with the children, again with a lady-in-waiting present,\u201d Vickers said.<\/p>\n
During their interview with Oprah, the couple made a series of explosive claims, including that a royal raised concerns about their son Archie\u2019s skin colour and “what it might mean”.<\/p>\n
Meghan also added that the institution refused to support her during major mental health struggles.<\/p>\n
“I went to the institution and I said that I needed to go somewhere to get help \u2026 And I was told that I couldn\u2019t, that it wouldn\u2019t be good for the institution,” Meghan told Oprah.<\/p>\n

In Spare, published in 2023, Harry said the institution was “briefing the press on the sly” and “planting stories” for decades.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI told them that I failed to see how speaking to Oprah was any different from what my family and their staff had done for decades,” he wrote.<\/p>\n
“The only difference was that Meg and I were upfront about it,” Harry wrote.<\/p>\n
“We chose an interviewer who was above reproach, and we didn\u2019t once hide behind phrases like \u201cPalace sources\u201d, we let people see the words coming out of our mouths.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also described a shock physical altercation with his brother William that he said left him on the floor.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,” he wrote.<\/p>\n
“I landed on the dog\u2019s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
