Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> has served as a moderator on ABC\u2019s The View<\/em><\/a> for almost 20 years, but some fans are starting to wonder if it\u2019s time for the EGOT winner to step away.<\/p>\n The debate began after a fan on the The View<\/em> Reddit subforum<\/a> noticed that Goldberg was having difficulty reading the teleprompter while moderating the daytime panel show. While noting they are a \u201chuge fan\u201d of Goldberg, the user said the 70-year-old actress has \u201cbeen having a really tough time reading the prompter and setting up the stories.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think the producers are doing her a disservice. She\u2019s let be it known she\u2019s dyslexic,\u201d the Reddit poster wrote, highlighting how Goldberg\u2019s dyslexia could make it difficult for her to read the prompter. \u201cThis feels like something Brian [Teta, exec producer] and the producers could fix.\u201d<\/p>\n The user suggested, \u201cMaybe slow the prompter down or make the words bigger. Also maybe sound out some of the names before going on air.\u201d<\/p>\n Another commenter agreed, writing, \u201cIt\u2019s painful watching her struggle with the teleprompter. I have a son who has dyslexia so I have mad respect for their plight but it feels stressful watching her mispronouncing names and fighting for her life some days with that teleprompter.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cClearly she struggles with reading that teleprompter more and more. It\u2019s hard to watch, but more than that, I feel bad for her,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n Others suggested that maybe it\u2019s time for Goldberg to step down and let someone else take over as moderator.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s been on autopilot for the best part of a decade,\u201d said one commenter. \u201cEvery day delivering the same rambling speeches and doing the fake Valley Girl voice and swinging rapidly between pretending not to care and being so passionate that nobody dare disagree with her. 19 years is a good run. I adore her as an actress and thought she is a B- at best as a moderator.\u201d<\/p>\n As for who would take over as moderator should Goldberg step down, many suggested fellow panelist Joy Behar<\/a>, who leads The View\u2019s weekend edition.<\/p>\n \u201cJoy is a good choice. She is also fun.
