Just in time for Easter, Lainey Wilson and Brandon Lake have released a faith-based duet.<\/p>\n
“‘The Jesus I Know Now<\/a>‘ with my good friend\u00a0@laineywilson\u00a0is OUT NOW,” Brandon wrote on Instagram<\/a>. “I hope it reminds you that, like my Momma used to tell me, ‘Jesus doesn\u2019t just love you – He likes you.’\u201d<\/p>\n “So excited to have this out,” Lainey wrote in the comments.<\/p>\n The song, written by Lainey, Brandon, Emily Weisband and Luke Laird, talks about the Jesus you learn about when you’re a child versus the Jesus you come to know as you get older.<\/p>\n “I was told He would save me\/\u00a0If I showed up to church and I shut my mouth\/\u00a0If I smoked, if I drank, if I cussed, I’d think\/\u00a0I was on a long black train to Hell\/ Yeah, I thought I knew Him\/\u00a0’til I met Him for myself,” they sing in the first verse.<\/p>\n In the chorus they sing, “But the Jesus I know now\/\u00a0Ain’t shakin’ a fist, ain’t raisin’ a brow\/\u00a0Yeah, the Jesus I know now\/\u00a0Ain’t runnin’ away from a party crowd\/\u00a0I found a friend\/\u00a0Who hangs with the misfits, listens, forgives, then forgives again\/\u00a0Can’t believe I was missin’ out\/\u00a0On the Jesus I know now.”<\/p>\n In the song’s bridge, Lainey sings about success: “Yeah, I got what I wanted\/\u00a0I heard my song on the radio\/ Left me longin’ and lonelier\/ Top of the world with an empty heart\/\u00a0And nowhere left to go\/\u00a0But back into the arms of the Jesus I know now.”<\/p>\n The song follows Brandon’s collaborations with Jelly Roll and Cody Johnson, “Hard-Fought Hallelujah” and “When a Cowboy Prays,” respectively.<\/p>\n Copyright \u00a9 2026, ABC Audio.
