Mango for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We\u2019re told the latest update in Lively\u2019s case against Baldoni is a \u201cmajor turning point\u201d for her reputation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen claims as significant as sexual harassment, defamation and conspiracy are dismissed, it inevitably has a lasting impact on public perception,\u201d she said. \u201cAt this level, reputational damage can be very difficult to fully recover from, and it\u2019s likely that Blake\u2019s public image won\u2019t return to what it once was unless there is a major legal breakthrough in her favor further down the line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for how Lively should navigate her next move, Cornelius said she should stand her ground. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf she\u2019s looking to prove a point and stand firmly behind her allegations, this is arguably a battle she needs to see through to the end,\u201d she said. \u201cStepping back or settling too early could be perceived by the public as a sign of doubt, or even guilt, which would only reinforce the narrative now forming around her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, a settlement could become a \u201csmart\u201d option if her messy court battle continues to further damage her image.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lively (seen here on Feb. 11) could be pushed out of the industry, the prand expert said.  <span class=\"credit\">Gregory P. Mango for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cProlonged legal battles keep the story in the headlines and allow scrutiny to build over time, which can be incredibly damaging in itself,\u201d she said. \u201cIf the case becomes more complex or unpredictable, a settlement could still be a smart move from a damage limitation perspective, even if it does not fully vindicate her position.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would also give her the chance to step back, reset and carefully phase a return to the spotlight. Realistically speaking though, it will be the success or failure of her next major project that determines what the future of her career looks like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Attorney Gregory Doll believes there is a chance Lively may opt for a settlement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLively has no claims left against Baldoni. She now only has claims left against the various business entities involved,\u201d the legal eagle said. \u201cSo Justin is no longer threatened by any personal liability. I think the odds of settlement went up significantly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lively\u2019s main goal in moving forward in court would be to attempt to prove that she suffered reputational harm as a result of a PR campaign blitz by Baldoni, Doll said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe has a difficult road ahead,\u201d Doll shared. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lively (seen here in \u201cIt Ends With Us) sued her co-star in 2024 for sexual harassment and other claims.  <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9Sony Pictures\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Baldoni (seen here on set with Lively in January 2024) hit back with a countersuit.  <span class=\"credit\">GC Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As for Baldoni, this latest ruling is a \u201cclear reputational boost,\u201d Cornelius said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving major claims dismissed gives him a stronger footing in the court of public opinion and allows him to reposition himself more confidently,\u201d she said. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean he is completely in the clear in the public\u2019s eyes yet, but it does shift the balance in his favour and gives him an opportunity to rebuild and strengthen his image from this point out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Page Six reported, Judge\u00a0Lewis J. Liman hit the \u201cGossip Girl\u201d alum with a legal slapdown by tossing 10 of Lively\u2019s 13 claims against Baldoni.<\/p>\n<p>Lively can still move forward with her claims of breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting in retaliation. <\/p>\n<p>While sources told Page Six Hollywood that the judge <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/03\/hollywood\/blake-lively-vs-justin-baldoni-judge-was-sending-clear-message-with-brutal-legal-slap-down\/\">clearly wants the stars to settle outside of court<\/a>, Lively confirmed she plans to move forward with court proceedings in May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe looks forward to testifying at trial and continuing to shine a light on this vicious form of online retaliation so that it becomes easier to detect and fight,\u201d her lawyer told us in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case has always been and will remain focused on the devastating retaliation and the extraordinary steps the defendants took to destroy Blake Lively\u2019s reputation because she stood up for safety on the set and that is the case that is going to trial\u2026,\u201d her lawyer continued. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rumors of a feud between the stars (seen here in the movie) swirled at their movie\u2019s premiere in summer 2024.  <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9Sony Pictures\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lively (seen here with Baldoni in the movie) was also previously slammed for promoting the movie in a tone-deaf way.  <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9Sony Pictures\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cFor Blake Lively, the greatest measure of justice is that the people and the playbook behind these coordinated digital attacks have been exposed and are already being held accountable by other women they\u2019ve targeted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Baldoni\u2019s legal team <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/02\/celebrity-news\/justin-baldoni-responds-to-dismissal-of-blake-livelys-sexual-harassment-claims\/\">said they are \u201cvery pleased\u201d <\/a>that Lively\u2019s sexual harassment claims were dismissed. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese were very serious allegations, and we are grateful to the Court for its careful review of the facts, law and voluminous evidence that was provided,\u201d Baldoni\u2019s lawyer said in a statement, adding, \u201cWhat\u2019s left is a significantly narrowed case, and we look forward to presenting our defense to the remaining claims in court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lively, 38, and Baldoni, 42, were co-stars in the 2024 film adaptation of Colleen Hoover\u2019s book of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>While promoting the film, which centers on themes of domestic violence, Lively was hit with backlash<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/08\/14\/entertainment\/blake-lively-addresses-domestic-violence-in-it-ends-with-us\/\"> after being criticized for promoting the film in a tone-deaf manner.<\/a> <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The judge tossed Baldoni\u2019s countersuit last June.  <span class=\"credit\">GC Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lively and Baldoni (seen here on set in 2024) are scheduled to appear in court next month.  <span class=\"credit\">GC Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When the film premiered that summer, rumors swirled that <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/entertainment\/blake-lively-justin-baldoni-drama-it-ends-with-us-movie\/\">Lively and Baldoni, the film\u2019s director, were beefing<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Several sources at the time told Page Six that Lively and Baldoni, who played each other\u2019s love interests in the movie, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/08\/09\/entertainment\/justin-baldoni-made-blake-lively-uncomfortable-sources\/\">did not get along on set. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>In December of that year, Lively <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/12\/21\/celebrity-news\/blake-lively-sues-justin-baldoni-for-sexual-harassment-on-it-ends-with-us-set\/\">sued Baldoni <\/a>for on-set sexual harassment and retaliation \u2014prompting Baldoni to hit back with a $400 million countersuit against her and her husband, Ryan Reynolds.
