Cincinnatians, get ready to turn the radio dial to “WKRP<\/a>.”<\/p>\n D.P. McIntire, owner of Oak City Media, a North Carolina-based nonprofit that is auctioning the call letters from the celebrated sitcom “WKRP in Cincinnati,” told the Associated Press<\/a> that the fictional radio station may soon become real.<\/p>\n “I cannot, by contract, tell you when. I cannot tell you who. But I can tell you, direct to the camera, WKRP, after 48 years, is coming to Cincinnati,\u201d McIntire said. \u201cBook it! It\u2019s done!\u201d<\/p>\n McIntire said that Oak City Media was “all set to hand off the television-related suffixes \u2013 WKRP-TV and WKRP-DT \u2013 when another group defaulted on the agreement,” the AP writes. He explains that the Cincinnati deal will likely come to fruition, he just can\u2019t “legally discuss it.”<\/p>\n \u201cIt will be radio,\u201d he said. \u201cBut that\u2019s all I can tell you at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n 101.9 WKRP<\/a>, a Raleigh, North Carolina, community radio station that operated with the famous call letters for a decade, announced\u00a0its plan to cease broadcast operations<\/a>\u00a0in August 2025.<\/p>\n In the announcement, the station said intellectual property such as logos and slogans associated with the letters may be for sale.
