If you\u2019ve been out in Miami, chances are you\u2019ve heard DJ Epps one or two times. On the slight chance you haven\u2019t, with all he\u2019s cooking up this year, you probably will very soon. From new music to a new book, Deco sat down with DJ Epps at the SiriusXM studios on Miami Beach to get an inside look at the man behind the mix.<\/p>\n
2026 is the year of execution for DJ Epps.<\/p>\n
DJ Epps: \u201cAround January 1, I basically tell myself, \u2018Whatever I didn\u2019t do last year is what I\u2019m going to do this year.’\u201d<\/p>\n
And he\u2019s already scratched one thing off that to-do list: dropping new<\/em> music.<\/p>\n DJ Epps: \u201c\u2018Real Ninjas,\u2019 if you hear the chorus, it\u2019s a throwback chorus. I linked up with Ty Nitti and it was an honor to work with him. He was like, \u2018Yo, let\u2019s work on a song.\u2019 And I said, \u2018Yeah, no problem. Let\u2019s take Queens and Miami together and make a collab,\u2019 and out came the single.\u201d<\/p>\n Epps isn\u2019t just in the booth. He\u2019s on the airways too. For five years strong, he\u2019s been riding with LL Cool J\u2019s Rock the Bells Radio on SiriusXM.<\/p>\n DJ Epps: \u201cSiriusXM has been great to me, man, and it\u2019s an honor to represent them. For LL Cool J to grab me up and make me one of his DJs, it\u2019s an absolute honor.\u201d<\/p>\n Skilled DJ? Check. Radio host? Check.<\/p>\n Now he\u2019s adding author to his impressive resume.<\/p>\n DJ Epps: \u201cA book is in the works. \u2018The Story of DJ Epps.\u2019 Coming from New York City to Miami, and the brand of DJ Epps just blowing up here in Miami because Miami adopted me. Thank you!\u201d<\/p>\n Get your bikinis ready because you\u2019re going to need them for where Epps has coming up next.<\/p>\n DJ Epps: \u201cThis Rock the Bell cruise Nov. 1 to the sixth going to Montego Bay, Jamaica. It\u2019s going to be phenomenal and if you have not been to a Rock the Bell cruise, you got to be on the next cruise.\u201d<\/p>\n DJ Epps is also turning 50 this month.
