OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) \u2014 An Owensboro band is making new career moves.\u00a0This comes after the group won a competition earning themselves a spot to perform at an upcoming NASCAR event in Nashville.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thought from the get go, either A, we\u2019ve got this thing in the bag, or B, we\u2019re the butt of a joke, you know what I mean?\u201d Yellow Banks\u2019 James Elliott said. \u201cThere was no in between, like, there\u2019s no way they picked us, and we either are the jesters or the winners.\u201d<\/p>\n
A new spotlight is shining on the Owensboro band Yellow Banks. This comes after the team won the competition Nashville\u2019s Next Rising Star competing with nearly 200 other acts.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour brain can\u2019t comprehend the scale of this type of event, but at the end of the day, it\u2019s the same formula,\u201d Yellow Banks Drummer Bean Boyer said. \u201cIt\u2019s the same thing we\u2019ve been doing for the past two, four years, three and a half years. Whatever it is at this point, you\u2019re getting up on stage with some of your brothers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even as their careers are taking new heights and a larger venue coming their way the group is dedicated to staying true to their roots.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have finally gotten to this point doing exactly what we\u2019re doing, and if it ain\u2019t broke, don\u2019t fix it, so why change the formula?\u201d says Elliot. \u201cYou know, keep writing music. Keep playing music. Make sure that you\u2019re able to at least listen to it and then keep moving on.\u201d<\/p>\n
The band will perform at the Cracker Barrel 400 in Nashville on May 31.<\/p>\n
