WORCESTER, Mass<\/strong>. \u2013 The Worcester Railers<\/a> hosted the Reading Royals<\/a> on Thursday evening at the DCU Center in Worcester. The Railers, who are fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, needed a momentum boost, which was provided by defenseman Case McCarthy<\/strong>. McCarthy scored three goals during the game for the first hat trick by a defenseman in the Railers 34-year franchise history, and propelling the Railers to a 5-3 victory over the Royals. Parker Gahagen<\/strong> in net for Worcester would pick up the win with 23 saves, and Carson Bjarnason<\/strong> had 29 saves for Reading.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The other two Worcester goals also came from a defenseman, with Jesse Pulkkinen<\/strong> and Michael Suda<\/strong> both scoring.
