The late Queen Elizabeth<\/strong><\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/strong><\/a> reportedly had a big difference of opinion when it came to the tiara she wound up wearing to her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Royal author Robert Hardman<\/strong> penned in his new book<\/a>, Elizabeth II, <\/em>how the Duke of Sussex, 41, decided to come with the Suits<\/em> star, 44, at the time to pick out a crown from the monarch’s private collection.<\/p>\n Meghan Markle and Prince Harry married in May 2018.MEGA<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n \u201cIt was her lovely way of bonding with the bride,\u201d a former staffer told the biographer of the selecting the right tiara for the occasion.<\/a> \u201cShe did it with Sophie<\/strong> [Rhys-Jones<\/strong>] and with Catherine<\/strong> [Middleton<\/strong><\/a>]. The sparkling headpiece was curated in 1932 and was lent to her by the Queen. The brooch in the center contains 10 diamonds and can be traced back to 1893.<\/p>\n Princess Diana wore the Spencer Tiara to her wedding in 1981.MEGA<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Harry noted in his 2023 memoir, Spare<\/em>,<\/a> how Meghan supposed to don the famous Spencer Tiara, a crown previously worn by Princess Diana<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n However, the Queen inquired if the actress wanted to wear a headpiece from her own assortment.<\/p>\n “She offered us access to her collection of tiaras,” Harry penned. “She even invited us to Buckingham Palace<\/a> to try them on. ‘Do come over,’ I remember her saying.”<\/p>\n The sovereign then said Meghan should practice for her big day by wearing the diademwhile at her hairdresser. \u201cIt’s tricky and you don’t want to be doing it for the first time on the wedding day,\u201d Harry recalled the Queen reiterating.<\/p>\n Kate Middleton donned the Cartier Halo Tiara for her 2011 wedding.MEGA<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n But the situation was hard to put together as the Queen’s longtime aide Angela Kelly<\/strong> suddenly became difficult to get a hold of.<\/p>\n The Invictus Games<\/a> founder explained that Kelly said the coronet needed \u201cpolice escort\u201d to leave the palace. Harry then agreed to this arrangement, she \u201cinexplicably\u201d told him it \u201ccan\u2019t be done.”<\/p>\n “I considered going to Granny, but that would probably mean sparking an all-out confrontation<\/a>, and I wasn’t quite sure with whom Granny would side,\u201d Harry said. \u201cAlso, to my mind, Angela was a troublemaker, and I didn’t need her as an enemy.”<\/p>\n Prince Harry wrote about the crown incident in ‘Spare.’MEGA<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n According to Hardman, the Queen found out about the incident and was \u201cnot pleased\u201d that Harry wanted the tiara to be sent out.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not a toy,\u201d she reportedly told her staff.
