(The couple share daughters Lyla Maria, 5 and Eloise Christina, 3, and son Ford Fitzgerald, 16 months. Katherine is also a stepmom to Pratt and ex-wife <strong>Anna Faris<\/strong>\u2019 son, Jack.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll never understand when women say, \u2018I don\u2019t need my husband,\u2019 when I very much in fact do need my husband because who else would build our daughters a doll house,\u201d she wrote <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DWevmffEgQj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">via Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fans debated her post in the comment section, with numerous people insisting that there was underlying \u2014 and likely inadvertent \u2014 sexism in her suggestion that a man was needed to build a child\u2019s dollhouse. One Instagram user went so far as to call out the post\u2019s \u201c<em>Handmaid\u2019s Tale<\/em> vibes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<iframe id=\"wpcom-iframe-7b182a6ec9fe0c6abe1e2f1976330d2e\" width=\"850\" height=\"775\" scrolling=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" class=\"wpcom-protected-iframe optanon-category-C0002-C0003-C0004-C0005\" data-src=\"https:\/\/embed.usmagazine.com\/protected-iframe\/7b182a6ec9fe0c6abe1e2f1976330d2e\"><br \/>\n\t\t<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWives and women can build doll houses, too,\u201d one person pointed out, with another adding, \u201cMy 70 year old mother builds things for grandkids. This is not specific to men.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet another user argued, \u201cUnfortunately, we [women] say that [we don\u2019t need husbands] because we get tired of waiting for them to do the project. Which then forces us to just do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Others defended Schwarzenegger\u2019s intentions with the post, with a user insisting, \u201cOmg these comments are ridiculous. \ud83d\ude44 What a sweet thing he is doing that his daughters will remember forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s be honest, he could easily afford someone to do it for him. Kudos @prattprattpratt there\u2019s a lot of love your daughter will feel when you do it yourself,\u201d a commenter pointed out.<\/p>\n<p><em>Us Weekly<\/em> has reached out to Schwarzenegger\u2019s spokesperson for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Schwarzenegger has frequently discussed her and Pratt\u2019s parenting style since they tied the knot in 2019. Speaking <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-moms\/news\/katherine-schwarzenegger-on-raising-kids-without-electronics\/\">exclusively to <em>Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> in September 2025, she revealed that the couple try to get \u201cback to the roots\u201d of their \u201890s childhoods by limiting the use of electronics in their house.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say storytime is a really great part of our parenting journey,\u201d she told <em>Us<\/em>. \u201cWe don\u2019t really do a lot of electronic stuff in our house. So, we try to have our kids be outdoors and be creative and really kind of go back to the roots of how we all grew up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The author added, \u201cStorytime and book reading is such a big part of our daily routine every single day. Our kids want to read books morning, noon and night. And I feel really like this is such a sweet time that you know your kid comes up to you and says, \u2018Can you read me a story? Can you read me a story?\u2019 So, I\u2019m really excited just being in that space now as a mom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Katherine was born and raised in Los Angeles by her parents, action movie icon <strong>Arnold Schwarzenegger<\/strong> and journalist <strong>Maria Shriver<\/strong>.
