Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship will make its Hawai\u02bbi debut next week with a fight card at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, marking the promotion\u2019s first event in the islands.<\/p>\n
The BKFC Hawai\u02bbi card, scheduled for April 11, features a lineup of fighters with ties to major promotions, including former UFC and Bellator veterans Maki Pitolo, Keali\u02bbi Kanekoa, Toby Misech and Zach Zane.<\/p>\n
The event is being promoted locally by T.J. Thompson, the former ICON Sport and Superbrawl president, who returns to the fight business after nearly two decades away.<\/p>\n
\u201cI couldn\u2019t be more excited,\u201d Thompson said in a recent appearance on the television program Hawaii Sports 2Night. \u201cIt\u2019s been 18 years since I\u2019ve done this. I\u2019m responsible for filling an arena, making a fight card, paying fighters \u2014 the whole thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Thompson said his decision to partner with BKFC came after attending a live event in Newark, New Jersey, which he described as one of the most entertaining fight experiences he has witnessed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been ringside at some of the greatest fights ever \u2014 Pride, UFC, Superbrawl \u2014 and I\u2019ve never had as much fun as I did at a BKFC event,\u201d Thompson said. \u201cThe action is nonstop. There\u2019s no downtime, and there\u2019s always something happening. It will be the most fun you\u2019ve had at a fight event.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to the fights, BKFC announced that proceeds from all ticket sales will be donated to families affected by recent flooding caused by a Kona low storm in Hawai\u02bbi.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
