The guitarist first appeared in Black\u2019s monologue, when he joined the actor for a very Tenacious D-rendition of \u201cSeven Nation Army.\u201d Black, bedecked in a flamed-covered button-down shirt \u00e0 la Guy Fieri, donned his velvet jacket to an <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SNL<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-themed version of the song. (Note: Jonah Hill also appeared in the monologue and called White his \u201chero, Professor Snape\u201d). Though Black <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/8mDX2Z883Cs?si=RWSsuCBEGXJnHRw6\" target=\"_blank\">told Jimmy Fallon<\/a> that this week\u2019s \u201cJack Gray\u201d jokes carry a \u201cnegative connotation,\u201d the pair rocked out as promised.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- RevContent  \n\n<div id=\"revcontent-hidden\"> -->  <!-- revisit --><!-- admarker --> <ad\/><!-- inline --><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Friday, White released two new songs ahead of the late-night gig: \u201cDerecho Demonico\u201d and \u201cG.O.D. and the Broken Ribs,\u201d his first singles since 2024\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No Name<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. He played both on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SNL<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, beginning with \u201cDerecho Demonico,\u201d a rollicking, bluesy track first premiered on tour last year. Energetic and sharp, White\u2019s stage presence reminded viewers why the singer remains one of the show\u2019s can\u2019t-miss musical guests. The performance\u2019s highlight was a live organ solo, with a slick riff from White\u2019s own guitar on its tail. A-side \u201cG.O.D. and the Broken Ribs,\u201d a psychedelic shredder playing on the theme of Adam and Eve, fared similarly. White spun around the stage before breaking into a theatrical recitation of the song\u2019s Biblical reverie. White\u2019s voice was full and rich, undergirded by drummer Patrick Keeler, keyboardist Bobby Emmett, and bassist Dominic Davis\u2019 expert playing and doused in blue light.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">White is no stranger to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SNL<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: last night marked his sixth time as a musical guest on the show, and his fifth time there as a solo artist (though there is no Five-Timers Club equivalency for musicians). No performance will top his last-minute COVID rendition of <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Ai9b2IO5Ncs?si=72RO7zAWMsPUwKYO\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBall and Biscuit\/Don\u2019t Hurt Yourself\/Jesus Is Coming Soon\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/hwNM-PSBeCY?si=dkKrXxYWnbMH6wAq\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLazaretto,\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but \u201cDerecho Demonico\u201d and \u201cG.O.D. and the Broken Ribs\u201d were superb asides in an otherwise <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pastemagazine.com\/tv\/saturday-night-live\/saturday-night-live-recap-season-51-episode-16\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">enjoyable episode<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
