<\/p>\n Ren\u00e9e Gros<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Ren\u00e9e Gros wrote many of the songs that would ultimately end up on her new album, \u201cGlad I\u2019m Wrong,\u201d in her mom\u2019s backyard. At the time, the New Orleans singer-songwriter was living with her mom, also a musician, and was working on more songs to follow up her first EP, \u201cTemporary Love.\u201d<\/p>\n A vocalist who had grown up singing<\/a> with other New Orleans performers, Gros made her first step into the world as a songwriter with \u201cTemporary Love.\u201d So although she continued to write, she says she still felt green and unsure.<\/p>\n In her mom\u2019s backyard, though, Gros found inspiration. Sometimes, like on the reflective \u201cMorning Song (Glad I\u2019m Awake),\u201d she just needed a moment to pause.<\/p>\n \u201cI was just really struggling at the time. And I was like, \u2018You know what, though? Let me just look at the present, look at what\u2019s physically around me and just be grateful for it,\u2019\u201d Gros says. \u201cThat\u2019s the place that I was in when I started writing the album.\u201d<\/p>\n Driven by Gros’ strong vocals and Wurlitzer piano, \u201cMorning Song\u201d opens \u201cGlad I\u2019m Wrong,\u201d an album full of \u201970s-inspired rock, R&B and Southern soul. Gros releases her full-length album on vinyl on Friday, April 10<\/a>, and plays a show that night at BJ\u2019s Lounge. Feeferella will open.<\/p>\n
