Terry Crews<\/strong><\/a> and his wife, Rebecca King-Crews<\/strong>, revealed that she has been battling Parkinson\u2019s for over 10 years.<\/p>\n

During the Monday, April 6, episode of the Today<\/em> show<\/a>, Rebecca, 60, opened up about living with the disease after receiving her diagnosis in 2015. Parkinson\u2019s is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects the brain and causes movement-related symptoms.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout 2012, [I] just had some light numbness in my left foot. Then my trainer noticed that my arm does not swing when I walk,\u201d she recalled. \u201cThen I woke up one morning and my hand was shaking. I said, \u2018Now that\u2019s a tremor.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Rebecca was initially told by a doctor that she was \u201chaving anxiety\u201d and would be fine. \u201cNo disrespect to him, but I asked for referrals and I got them,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt took three years to diagnose me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rebecca credited a non-invasive treatment \u2014 known as focused ultrasound \u2014 for helping ease some of the symptoms.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel good. \u2026 I\u2019m able to write with my right hand for the first time in probably three years,\u201d she said, noting that she\u2019s \u201cseeing improvement in my symptoms\u201d following her procedure.<\/p>\n

After choosing to keep her diagnosis private, Rebecca and Terry, 57, are now sharing her experience to spread awareness. \u201cI don\u2019t believe in telling my story just so you can know my story and feel sorry for me,\u201d Rebecca explained. \u201cI really believe that this procedure and others like it are the new frontier of medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cI\u2019m excited about the possibility. I felt that I wanted to potentially make it more available to others \u2026 and just give hope to people with Parkinson\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Terry, for his part, expressed his hope<\/a> that the new treatment could be \u201cthe beginning of a cure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo watch her go through what she\u2019s gone through over the last 10 to 12 years has been very, very hard,\u201d he said. \u201cThe tremors, the not sleeping, the loss of balance. To watch her write her name for the first time in three years, I don\u2019t know what to say. I\u2019m choked up just thinking about it. \u2026 She\u2019s a superhero.\u201d<\/p>\n
