Deadliest Catch<\/em> star Todd Meadows\u2019<\/strong> cause of death has been confirmed.<\/p>\n

According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ<\/a> on Monday, April 6, Meadows\u2019 death was \u201cdrowning with probable hypothermia\u201d and \u201csubmersion of body in cold water.\u201d The document noted that Meadows was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m. on February 25 in an \u201caccident\u201d aboard the Aleutian Lady crab vessel in the Bering Sea. Per the certificate, Meadows\u2019 body was cremated after being transported back to Anchorage, Alaska.<\/p>\n

TMZ previously reported that Meadows\u2019 death<\/a> was the result of a \u201cfishing-related\u201d incident that occurred during filming. Producers reportedly received a memo informing them of the fatal accident and providing resources to cast and crew amid the tragedy.<\/p>\n

According to Deadline<\/a>, the reality show was in production on season 22 when the incident took place. The series was reportedly at the end of its filming cycle and subsequently wrapped production on the season.<\/p>\n

Captain Rick Shelford<\/strong> confirmed Meadows\u2019 death via Facebook on March 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cFebruary 25, 2026, was the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea,\u201d Shelford wrote at the time. \u201cWe lost our brother, Todd Meadows.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shelford went on to pay tribute to Meadows, who died at age 25.<\/p>\n

\u201cTodd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family,\u201d he continued. \u201cHis love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone\u2019s respect right away. His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will carry with us always.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shelford added, \u201cTodd\u2019s love for his children, his family and his life was evident in everything he did. He worked hard, loved deeply and brought joy to those around him. Right now, our hearts are broken in a way that words can\u2019t fully express.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shelford encouraged fans to \u201clift Todd\u2019s children and family in prayer and keep them in your thoughts\u201d in the wake of the tragedy.<\/p>\n

\u201cTodd will forever be part of this boat, this crew and this brotherhood,\u201d he concluded. \u201cThough we lost him far too soon, his legacy will live on through his children and in every memory we carry of him. Rest easy brother, till we meet again.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, a spokesperson for Discovery Channel released a statement to TMZ about Meadow\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Todd Meadows,\u201d the statement read. \u201cThis is a devastating loss, and our hearts are with his loved ones, his crewmates and the entire fishing community during this incredibly difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe launched after Meadows\u2019 death stated that he died \u201cdoing what he loved \u2014 crabbing out on Alaskan waters.\u201d<\/p>\n
