The fifth and final season of \u201cThe Boys\u201d hits Prime Video on April 8 with the first two episodes, followed by weekly episodes leading up to the epic series finale on May 20.<\/p>\n
This final season, Hughie, Mother\u2019s Milk and Frenchie find themselves imprisoned in a \u201cFreedom Camp\u201d in Homelander\u2019s world as Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. When Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, a chain of events begins that will forever change the world and everyone in it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s crazy,\u201d Antony Starr (Homelander) told Spectrum News about the final season. \u201cI think it is a very great finish to a show that we have all loved being a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n
Eric Kripke, who is the executive producer and showrunner, told Spectrum News they jokingly sometimes refer the writer\u2019s room for \u201cThe Boys\u201d as Satan\u2019s writer\u2019s room because of the parallels between what happens on the show and what happens in real life.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are always writing about what is infuriating us or frustrating us or scaring us at that time. That bull[explicit] is the same bull[explicit] two years later,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not so much that we are seeing the future, it\u2019s that people forget that things really don\u2019t change.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kripke said that in a world that only seems to get crazier, it has become more challenging to write satire.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the world is crazier than your subject matter, it\u2019s harder to find the humor,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

But as the saying goes, there is always hope. And Jack Quaid, who plays Hughie, told Spectrum News we all have a superpower to fight off the “Homelanders” of the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe real secret message of the show is that anyone who tells you \u2018I have all the answers,\u2019 \u2018I can solve all your problems,\u2019 they are lying to you,\u201d he said. \u201cReal heroism is normal everyday people doing little things here and there to help each other out, and hopefully that trickles up in a way. No one is coming to save you. We need to save ourselves. It\u2019s not glamours but the little things, when they add up, can go a long way.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Boys\u201d is based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers, and developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke. \u00a0<\/p>\n
