By TARA ANSON-WALSH, FOOTBALL REPORTER<\/a> <\/p>\n Published:<\/span> 21:59 BST, 6 April 2026 <\/span> | Updated:<\/span> 22:24 BST, 6 April 2026 <\/span> <\/p>\n Legendary football presenter Jeff Stelling, 71, has joined BBC<\/a>\u2019s Celebrity <\/span>Race Across the World<\/span><\/a> alongside his son Matthew.<\/p>\n The talkSPORT Breakfast host has already filmed his scenes, competing against other celebrities including Katie Price<\/a> and Peter Andre<\/a>\u2019s children, Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, according to a report in The Sun.<\/p>\n The programme is due to air later this year, although the BBC has yet to confirm a date.<\/p>\n A source told The Sun: ‘Jeff absolutely loves a challenge and when he was approached by the BBC to take part in Celebrity Race Across the World<\/span>, he went for it.<\/p>\n ‘He entered with his son Matt and they had a blast together.<\/p>\n ‘The BBC know it\u2019s a coup to get Jeff in the competition as he\u2019s so well respected in the football world.’<\/p>\n Stelling has already filmed his scenes for Celebrity Race Across the World, competing against other celebrities including Katie Price and Peter Andre\u2019s children Junior, 20, and Princess, 18<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The\u00a0talkSPORT presenter announced in February that he was stepping away for ‘two to three weeks’ on an extended break – although he has yet to return<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Hartlepool United superfan has also hosted Countdown<\/span> on Channel 4 and fronted an ITV game show called Alphabetical<\/span>.<\/p>\n Stelling is best known for his long tenure presenting Sky Sports\u2019 Soccer Saturday<\/span>, leaving the broadcaster in 2023 after 29 years in the role.<\/p>\n He has since presented talkSPORT\u2019s Breakfast show on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-10am alongside Ally McCoist, although he announced in February that he was stepping away for ‘two to three weeks’ on an extended break. He has yet to return.<\/p>\n ‘We\u2019ve had so many texts (on today’s show) that I\u2019m going to have to take a break, which is what I\u2019m going to do for the next two or three weeks,’ he said at the time.<\/p>\n ‘I\u2019m just going to chill out for a bit of rest and relaxation. I\u2019ll see you when I\u2019m back.’<\/p>\n Stelling also made a cameo appearance in the hit Apple TV series Ted Lasso<\/span>. And in 2023, he was made an MBE for fundraising and campaigning for prostate cancer charities.<\/p>\n Daily Mail Sport <\/span>exclusively interviewed Stelling earlier in the year, where he spoke about his intention to continue presenting for many years.<\/p>\n He told us: ‘I love it. I feel exactly the same as I did when I was in my mid-30s, my mid-40s, my mid-50s. I don\u2019t see any reason to stop. As long as people ask me to do it, I\u2019m going to carry on.<\/p>\n \u2018People will tell me, \u201cyou\u2019re an old fart, you\u2019re out of touch with modern views,\u201d and sometimes they do now! Sometimes I get called a dinosaur \u2013 a pet hate, by the way. If anybody texts me, do not call me a dinosaur! It doesn\u2019t matter if I\u2019m 70 and you\u2019re 17. Our opinions have got equal merit.\u2019<\/p>\n He added: ‘It was an opportunity to do a podcast which wasn\u2019t just sports-based but to find out a little bit about people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n \u2018It will be people from the world of sport but we may not concentrate on which games and trophies they\u2019ve won. I\u2019d like to hear their back story.
