Wu-Tang Clan\u2019s<\/a> Method Man is addressing backlash from fans after missing the group\u2019s recent Australian tour dates<\/a>, saying he had never committed to appearing and placing responsibility on promoters for advertising the shows as featuring all living members.<\/p>\n The hip-hop collective\u2019s Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber Tour was promoted as including the full lineup. However, Method Man \u2014 along with Raekwon, Cappadonna and Young Dirty Bastard \u2014 did not appear at the Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney shows, prompting frustration from fans who had purchased tickets expecting a complete reunion.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Following the Brisbane performance, attendees took to social media to flag the absences, leading ticketing platform Ticketek to offer refunds to some concertgoers for the Melbourne and Sydney dates.<\/p>\n In an Instagram Live over the weekend, Method Man said he had made it clear prior to the international leg of the tour that he would not be participating in the Australian shows due to other commitments.<\/p>\n \u201cBefore we even went on the overseas tour, I wasn\u2019t going. I said I wasn\u2019t going. I said I was booked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The rapper, born Clifford Smith Jr., suggested promoters continued marketing the shows with the expectation of a full lineup despite knowing he had not agreed to appear.<\/p>\n \u201cI was seeing flyers saying all living members are going to be there\u2026 they know that I haven\u2019t agreed to go on the tour yet,\u201d he said, adding that promoters were \u201coverzealous\u201d in their promotion of the dates.<\/p>\n Method Man also claimed the situation reflects a broader issue within touring, where key information is sometimes withheld from ticket buyers until late in the process.<\/p>\n \u201cSometimes the promoters are privy to this information but don\u2019t want to give out this information,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019ll wait for the ticket sales, and then they\u2019ll make an announcement close to the date, which I don\u2019t think is fair.\u201d He added that his decision was not directed at fans, noting his appreciation for Australian audiences. \u201cThe reason why I\u2019m even giving this explanation is because I love our fans, love Australia. But again, if I\u2019m booked, I\u2019m booked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the local promoter told Rolling Stone AU\/NZ<\/a><\/em> that all living members of Wu-Tang Clan had been confirmed for the Australian tour and that visa and travel arrangements were made accordingly.<\/p>\n Wu-Tang Clan last toured Australia in 2023.
