Mark Consuelos<\/a> is currently in his second week of preview performances for the Broadway play<\/a> Fallen Angels<\/em>. However, one important person has yet to see him on stage.<\/p>\n Ian McKellen<\/a> stopped by the Monday, April 6, episode of Live With Kelly and Mark<\/a><\/em> to promote his new movie, The Christophers<\/a><\/em>. During the interview, McKellen told Kelly Ripa<\/a>, \u201cYou know, I went to see [Mark] in his play!\u201d<\/p>\n Ripa said it was \u201cvery exciting\u201d that McKellen got to watch Consuelos in the show, especially since she has yet to see it. \u201cI\u2019m going this week. I haven\u2019t seen it yet,\u201d she revealed. \u201cSo I\u2019m going this week to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n McKellen went on to ask Ripa, \u201cHas he not told you the plot?\u201d After the host said she\u2019s aware of the play\u2019s story, McKellen quipped that Consuelos\u2019 role is \u201cvery, very saucy.\u201d<\/p>\n Fallen Angels<\/em>, which officially opens on April 19, stars Rose Byrne<\/a> and Kelli O\u2019Hara<\/a> as two married women who have an affair with the same man, played by Consuelos. The cast also includes Tracee Chimo<\/a>, Christopher Fitzgerald<\/a>, and Aasif Mandvi<\/a>.<\/p>\n Mark is making his Broadway debut<\/a> at the same time as his and Ripa\u2019s youngest son, Joaquin Consuelos<\/a>, who is currently starring in the revival of Death of a Salesman<\/em>, which opens on April 9. While Ripa has seemingly waited to see Mark\u2019s show by choice,\u00a0she previously revealed that Joaquin prohibited her<\/a> from attending his first performance.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI said to him, \u2018I want to come to first preview.\u2019 And he said, \u2018Mom, no.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Why?\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018It\u2019s previews. Just wait \u2018til opening night,\u2019\u201d she explained on the March 9 episode of Live<\/em>. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t want to wait \u2018til opening night. I\u2019d like to see a preview and then go to opening night.\u2019 But I respected his wishes.\u201d<\/p>\n Just one day later, Ripa revealed via her Instagram Story that she was in the audience of that night\u2019s show. \u201cI didn\u2019t ask for permission. I just went<\/a>,\u201d she said during Live<\/em>\u2018s March 11 episode. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018You know what? I\u2019m a ticket buyer, too, and I\u2019m going.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Ripa went on to state that Mark \u201cundersold\u201d to her just how good Joaquin was in the show. \u201cIt was unbelievable. It\u2019s unbelievable,\u201d she gushed. \u201cThe entire production is incredible, and just to see Joaquin up there, it took my breath away, took my breath away.\u201d<\/p>\n On Monday\u2019s episode of Live<\/em>, Mark revealed to McKellen that several of his costars were jealous that the actor paid him a backstage visit. \u201cThey saw that I posted a photo with you backstage, and they were like, \u2018You know Ian McKellen?\u2019 And I said, \u2018I know a friend of his [Gary Janetti<\/a>] very well,\u2019\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd they said, \u2018Well, what did he say about the show?\u2019 I said, \u2018He liked it.\u2019 And then they said, \u2018Did he say anything else?\u2019 I was like, \u2018No.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
