Use Copilot at your own risk.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-e8e670a8-be98-43d8-a0b8-8b955b8c5428\">That <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-copilot\/for-individuals\/termsofuse\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-copilot\/for-individuals\/termsofuse\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\"><u>document<\/u><\/a> was last updated back in October, when they were &#8220;rewritten and reorganized.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-0d91ea13-8dbf-403f-98a8-8cf863173a2d\">Previous versions of the terms stretching back to 2023 didn&#8217;t include that exact same line, but did note: &#8220;The Online Services are for entertainment purposes; a Microsoft spokesperson told <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.pcmag.com\/ai\/164230\/copilot-terms-claim-microsofts-ai-is-for-entertainment-purposes-only\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/uk.pcmag.com\/ai\/164230\/copilot-terms-claim-microsofts-ai-is-for-entertainment-purposes-only\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\"><u><em>PCMag<\/em><\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-68cdd803-8b3d-4ca9-94a3-e257093f7b80\">&#8220;As the product has evolved, that language is no longer reflective of how Copilot is used today and will be altered with our next update.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>ITPro <\/em>approached Microsoft for comment, but did not receive a response by time of publication.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" id=\"elk-e53af83c-3eca-4385-8c40-74184443c46f\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"ai-warnings-3\">AI warnings<\/h2>\n<p id=\"elk-9bc5e4a8-87ff-484c-8ab6-e036386cd639\">While <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.pcmag.com\/ai\/164230\/copilot-terms-claim-microsofts-ai-is-for-entertainment-purposes-only\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/uk.pcmag.com\/ai\/164230\/copilot-terms-claim-microsofts-ai-is-for-entertainment-purposes-only\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\"><u>reports<\/u><\/a> noted social media <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/pcmasterrace\/comments\/1s8u3t7\/direct_quote_from_microsofts_terms_of_use_for\/odjgv10\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/pcmasterrace\/comments\/1s8u3t7\/direct_quote_from_microsofts_terms_of_use_for\/odjgv10\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\"><u>users<\/u><\/a> laughing that Microsoft&#8217;s language echoes the legalese used by psychics and ghost hunters, such disclaimers are also common among AI developers \u2014 though they warn about potential risks rather than declaring their products &#8220;entertainment&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-4250430e-7857-4554-b877-c73ae560bb2a\">The <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.ai\/legal\/terms-of-service\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/x.ai\/legal\/terms-of-service\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\"><u>terms for xAI<\/u><\/a> state that its service &#8220;may contain errors, defects, bugs or inaccuracies that could fail or cause corruption or loss of data and information\u201d.<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-23d1d7a0-7347-4b7b-97b2-71a9924f075a\">These particular terms request users agree not to &#8220;rely on output as the sole source of truth or factual information, or as professional advice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-537813cc-6e50-4426-a451-dacd051531e5\">OpenAI features the same language, also warning the service may not be &#8220;error free&#8221;
