EXCLUSIVE<\/strong>: Former Concourse executive Grant Mohrman has launched U.S. sales and production firm Gravel Lake Entertainment with Cannes regular Arnaud Desplechin\u2019s upcoming film\u00a0The Thing That Hurts<\/em>\u00a0as its debut sales title.<\/p>\n Filming is due to begin later this month in France and Belgium on Desplechin\u2019s feature, which has been described as \u201ca Parisian psychodrama where grief, guilt, and love collide among strangers bound by a haunting secret\u201d.<\/p>\n More from Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n Casting is being kept under wraps for now but a number of high-profile talent have been speculated online. Among those to have been connected to the project over the years but won\u2019t be in the film, we\u2019re told, are L\u00e9a Seydoux and Jason Schwartzman. Mohrman, who will handle international sales, told us \u201cthe film has a strong international ensemble in place\u201d and added that further details would be revealed shortly. He also said the film would \u201cmark a new chapter for Desplechin\u201d.<\/p>\n As we previously reported, The Thing That Hurts<\/em> is financed by Silver Screen Global and produced by 3Six9 Studios. Also producing are Charles Gillibert\u2019s CG Cin\u00e9ma, Portuguese\/Turkish company Alaz Film, and Brussels outfit Wrong Men. It\u2019s likely the film is at least partially English-language.<\/p>\n Veteran Desplechin is known for films including My Golden Days<\/em>, which won the C\u00e9sar Award for Best Director, Kings And Queen<\/em>, A Christmas Tale<\/em>, and Esther Khan<\/em>. Most recently, Two Pianos<\/em>, starring Charlotte Rampling, debuted at last year\u2019s Toronto Film Festival. He has played in Cannes nine times.<\/p>\n According to Mohrman, who previously served as Head of Acquisitions and Production at seller-producer Concourse Media, LA and New York-based Gravel Lake will focus on \u201cdirector-driven prestige films and elevated genre projects\u201d. The company\u2019s development slate includes a feature with director Claire McCarthy (The Colour Room<\/em>, The Luminaries<\/em>).<\/p>\n LA-based Mohrman will serve as Managing Partner.
