Siwa and Hughes met on Celebrity Big Brother UK<\/em> and their friendship turned romantic after leaving the show<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Siwa called the song a celebration of their serendipitous connection with Hughes<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n It\u2019s been one year since JoJo Siwa<\/a> met boyfriend Chris Hughes<\/a> in the Big Brother<\/em> house, and she\u2019s celebrating with a special surprise.<\/p>\n The pop star, 22, released the music video for her new single \u201cSerendipity\u201d on Tuesday, April 7, which stars Hughes, 33, her parents and an elaborate stage production.<\/p>\n In the video, Siwa performs a full-scale dance routine set to the song, and Hughes \u2014 who was not told in advance what he\u2019d be seeing \u2014 watches with delight from the audience.<\/p>\n Siwa directed, choreographed and produced the video herself, and it featured five days of rehearsal, 86 dancers and 24 hidden cameras to capture Hughes\u2019 reaction.<\/p>\n JoJo Siwa; Chris Hughes In the clip, Hughes, his friend and Siwa\u2019s parents laugh and smile as the curtain drops and Siwa appears on stage. We had no idea,\u201d his friend says, while Hughes adds, \u201cI still don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on\u201d and blows Siwa a kiss.<\/p>\n In a statement, Siwa said she\u2019d been \u201cholding onto\u201d \u201cSerendipity\u201d for some time, but was waiting for the right moment to share it with the world.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been one year since I walked into the Big Brother<\/em> house in the UK, and so much of my life changed from that experience,\u201d she said. \u201c\u2018Serendipity\u2019 became this word that made everything that\u2019s happened in my life make sense! \u2026how something so unexpected can turn into something so destined. A year later, it feels like the perfect way to capture how I look at life right now.\u201d<\/p>\n Siwa and Hughes met on season 24 of Celebrity Big Brother UK<\/em>, and their platonic friendship turned romantic shortly after they exited the house.<\/p>\n On Instagram, Hughes celebrated one year of knowing Siwa with a sweet Instagram<\/a> post that included a clip of their first exchange on the show.<\/p>\n \u201cone year ago today, I discovered your existence \ud83e\udd0d the first thing I ever said to you was, \u2018you\u2019re very colourful\u2019, and that colour still radiates every day!\u201d he captioned his post. \u201cit\u2019s flown by, feels like yesterday I got out the bb house, crazy universe \ud83c\udf0e\ud83d\ude0c\u201d<\/p>\n In a post<\/a> of her own, Siwa wrote that she was \u201cso forever grateful to the walls\u201d of the Big Brother house.<\/p>\n \u201cOne year since walking into the Big Brother<\/em> house, one year since my smile grew in a way I didn\u2019t know possible,\u201d she wrote. \u201cToday, I\u2019m reminded of the moment that quietly changed everything.\ud83e\udd0d The only word to explain what happened on this day a year ago\u2026 Serendipity\ud83e\udef6\ud83c\udffc\u201d<\/p>\n In March, Siwa opened up to PEOPLE about the song \u201cSerendipity,\u201d<\/a> explaining that it was her favorite word, which compelled her to write the tune.<\/p>\n \u201cThe inspiration behind that is my very sweet love Christopher. Well, our lives connecting and meeting are like serendipity,\u201d she said. \u201cI think that when it\u2019s meant to be, it is, and when it\u2019s meant to be, it\u2019ll be right.\u201d<\/p>\n She also teased some wedding plans<\/a> to PEOPLE earlier this month after her brother Jayden\u2019s nuptials, during which Hughes served as a groomsman.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously our relationship\u2019s very new. We\u2019re creeping up on our one-year anniversary. So we\u2019re getting there, but we\u2019ve got time,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd obviously, I think that marriage is, of course, in Chris\u2019s hands, and so when he feels the time is right, I\u2019ll be ready.
