Not only did Kyndal Inskeep<\/a> guess wrong \u2013 twice \u2013 on which American Idol<\/a><\/em> judge selected the song \u201cIris\u201d for her to sing during the Judges\u2019 Song Contest<\/a>, but she also didn\u2019t think she did a terrific job performing the Goo Goo Dolls hit.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, not my favorite performance I\u2019ve ever done in my life at all,\u201d she told TV Insider and a small group of reporters after the live show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think with every week, you feel the need to not want to let anybody down,\u201d Kyndal elaborated. \u201cYou\u2019ve attained all these people in your corner throughout the whole season. And at this point, there\u2019s a lot of intensity. I feel that with every week, you just have to lock in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plus, Kyndal, like the other Top 12 contestants, had to choose from a selection<\/a> of three songs each, which were provided by the judges from an era in which she lived as a mere toddler. \u201cThis was a judges\u2019 pick,\u201d she said. \u201cSo, it\u2019s not like I know this song [like] the back of my hand.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer said that she was happy to learn her fate sooner rather than later when host Ryan Seacrest<\/a> announced the names of the singers advancing to next week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all want to come out here and we want to give the most breathtaking performance that sounds the same as we might do in our bathroom or one that we post on our Instagram or in our bedrooms,\u201d Kyndal shared. \u201c[We want] to just delete the noise outside and really zone in. It\u2019s really hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Idol<\/em>, Kyndal noted, doesn\u2019t use autotune. \u201cWhat people are hearing is actual raw vocals,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

But while it wasn\u2019t Kyndal\u2019s favorite performance, she is<\/em> focusing on the future. \u201cI\u2019m ready to bring it next week and I\u2019m really grateful for the opportunity to do so,\u201d she enthused.<\/p>\n

One aspect to her Idol<\/em> journey that Kyndal has mastered is post-song interviews with Seacrest.\u201cYou also always seem so comfortable on stage, and relaxed,\u201d Seacrest complimented her, to which she replied. \u201cI<\/em> seem comfortable? Goodness\u2026um, yeah. Yes. We\u2019re going to go with that.\u201d<\/p>\n
