Bill Gates<\/strong> is officially preparing to testify in front of the House Oversight Committee<\/a> as Congress continues to investigate sex offender Jeffrey Epstein<\/strong>\u2019s crimes and powerful connections.<\/p>\n

Gates, 70, will answer questions from members of Congress on June 10, according to multiple outlets, which note that the Microsoft cofounder is not being accused of any wrongdoing after he was named in the so-called Epstein Files.<\/p>\n

Gates \u2014 who has claimed that he met Epstein in the past to garner support for his global health philanthropy \u2014 said in a statement to People<\/em><\/a> on Tuesday, April 7, that he \u201cwelcomes the opportunity to appear before the Committee.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile he never witnessed or participated in any of Epstein\u2019s illegal conduct<\/a>, he is looking forward to answering all the committee\u2019s questions to support their important work,\u201d a spokesperson for Gates added.<\/p>\n

In 2008, Epstein was convicted in a Florida court of procuring a child for prostitution and soliciting a prostitution. He served 13 months in prison and was forced to register as a sex offender in what was later described as a \u201csweetheart deal\u201d that has since been the subject of intense scrutiny.<\/p>\n

More than a decade later, Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while in jail awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. He was 66.<\/p>\n

Beginning in December 2025 \u2014 after Congress passed The Epstein Files Transparency Act\u2014 the Department of Justice has released thousands of documents related to the FBI\u2019s investigation into the disgraced billionaire, including personal correspondence with Gates and other prominent world figures.<\/p>\n

Gates, for his part, was requested to appear for an interview in a letter from House Oversight Committee chairman Republican James Comer<\/strong> of Kentucky dated March 3.<\/p>\n

Comer revealed in his correspondence that the Committee believes Gates has \u201cinformation that will assist in its investigation.\u201d Comer cited both public reports and documents released by the Department of Justice to support the Committee\u2019s request.<\/p>\n

While Gates is not the first A-list celebrity or public figure named in the Epstein files<\/a>, in January he made headlines after documents showed an alleged email from Epstein discussing the Microsoft co-founder\u2019s alleged extramarital affairs.<\/p>\n

Epstein alleged in an email from 2013<\/a> he wrote that Gates contracted a sexually transmitted infection from \u201cRussian girls\u201d and allegedly asked him to hide it from his then-wife, Melinda French Gates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Gates denied the allegations of the letter, claiming they are \u201cabsolutely absurd and completely false.\u201d The tech guru later confirmed that he did have two affairs with Russian women<\/a> while married to French Gates, whom he split from in May 2021 after 27 years of marriage<\/a>.<\/p>\n
