That money is distributed by the MLB Players Association. With Pasquantino\u2019s latest move, he may have some of his own merchandise revenue in store, too.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday the 28-year-old New Jersey native <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/tmsearch.uspto.gov\/search\/search-results\/98378634\">registered a trademark for \u201cThe Pasquatch,\u201d<\/a> covering all kinds of clothing and other apparel. A licensed shirt is <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/charliehustle.com\/products\/bring-out-the-pasquatch-royal-t-shirt?_pos=1&amp;_sid=026e9cbf5&amp;_ss=r\">available through KC-based Charlie Hustle.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe nickname has taken on a life of its own, and now it\u2019s protected,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:7447300148944125953\/\">Heitner said in a LinkedIn post.<\/a> \u201cSecuring a federal trademark registration is one of the most important steps an athlete can take to protect their name, nickname, or brand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>  <iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/embed\/feed\/update\/urn:li:share:7447300147488854017\" height=\"1090\" width=\"504\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" title=\"Embedded post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The nickname may have needed some protection after All-Star Seattle Mariners catcher <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/sports\/spt-columns-blogs\/for-petes-sake\/article312442087.html\">Cal Raleigh created his own mascot, \u201cDumpa Squatch.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Pasquantino\u2019s nickname has become a phenomenon, leading to various merchandise and themed food offerings \u2014 including a necklace and even a <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/sports\/spt-columns-blogs\/for-petes-sake\/article311713994.html\">Pasquatch bat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>His play on the field has only accelerated his rise. He had his best season as a pro last year, hitting .264\/.323\/.475. Then he made WBC history by smacking three homers in a single game, helping the Italian squad reach the tournament semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Pasquantino is still working to find his stride at the plate this season in the majors.
