The Montecito couple are expected to promote their respective projects, including Meghan\u2019s lifestyle brand, As Ever. Now, a PR expert has warned the Sussexes they will have to be extra careful if they want to win over the Australian public and market.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Born and bred Australian Renae Smith, founder of PR agency The Atticism, told the Daily Express: \u201cAustralia is not an easy market to win over. We have a very strong tall poppy mentality, particularly in Sydney and Melbourne.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a natural scepticism towards people who are overly curated, overly self-promotional, or slightly detached from reality.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cThat doesn\u2019t always play in Meghan\u2019s favour, especially given her current positioning.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
She added: \u201cAt the same time, Australians have become more receptive to US-style wellness, personal branding, and aspirational content in the past decade or so, so there is a lane there for her.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Ms Smith claimed that while the trip shows no signs of becoming a \u201chuge flop\u201d, it is a far cry from a roaring success.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
She explained: \u201cIn terms of risk, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s destined to be a huge flop. It will likely be fine. But ‘fine’ and ‘transformational’ are very different things.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cSo yes, it can be a success in a controlled, curated sense. But if anyone is expecting this to be some kind of defining comeback moment, that feels a bit generous and I doubt it will move the dial for the general pop.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
It is understood that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will not accompany the Sussexes on the trip.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
