Stephen Colbert<\/a> on Tuesday took on Donald Trump<\/a> over his \u201cchilling\u201d genocidal threat to Iran, one that the president backed down<\/a> on after the U.S. agreed to a two-week ceasefire with the country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cLate Show\u201d host \u2014 who recorded his monologue prior to Trump pressing pause on the threat \u2014 read the president\u2019s \u201cvery upsetting\u201d declaration that a \u201cwhole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cBut I also want to point out that he doesn\u2019t say which civilization will die tonight \u2019cause ours has been seen wandering on a highway overpass,\u201d he quipped.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Colbert noted that Trump had apparently vowed to deliver the \u201ccivilization-ending blow\u201d by a Tuesday deadline of \u201c8:00 P.M. EASTERN TIME,\u201d per a post<\/a> shared to his Truth Social<\/a> platform over the weekend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cSo, bad news, the world might end.
