Who knew there was a 17,000 square-foot bunker under the polo fields where the Coachella festival is held? Radiohead knew: it\u2019s been chosen as the space for the debut of their new \u2018Kid A Mnesia\u2019 audiovisual installation.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p>
Well, not entirely new. The installation was\u00a0originally launched in virtual form by Epic Games in 2021<\/a>\u00a0for consoles and computers, featuring films and artworks from the band\u2019s \u2018Kid A\u2019 and \u2018Amnesiac\u2019 albums.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p> However, the virtual launch was by necessity \u2013 these were lockdown days \u2013\u00a0and the original idea was to make it a physical exhibition. That\u2019s what\u2019s happening this year, starting in the Coachella bunker.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \u2018Kid A Mnesia\u2019 is the film, and \u2018Motion Picture House\u2019 is the name of the full installation built to house it. According to Thom Yorke, the narrative is that \u201ca Monster is trapped in a derelict museum of the lost & forgotten\u201d.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p> After Coachella, the exhibition will visit Brooklyn, Chicago, Mexico City and San Francisco between May this year and February next.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p> It sounds amazing, so expect to see plenty of posts on social me\u2026 Oh, wait, don\u2019t.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p> \u201cAll photos and videos from inside the exhibition are prohibited,\u201d\u00a0notes the Motion Picture House website<\/a>. \u201cCamera stickers will be applied to each phone entering Motion Picture House.\u201d\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p> Instead, any visuals from the installation will be concentrated in its own profiles on\u00a0Instagram<\/a>,\u00a0Threads<\/a>,\u00a0Facebook<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0TikTok<\/a>.\u00a0A YouTube trailer has also been released this week<\/a>.\n\n\n
