Oscar nominee Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin<\/em><\/a>) has boarded Netflix\u2019s series adaptation of Liz Moore\u2019s bestselling novel, The God of the Woods<\/em>. Condon joins Maya Hawke (Stranger Things<\/a>),<\/em> who was previously announced to star.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Author Liz Moore and Liz Hannah (The Girl From Plainville<\/em>) are adapting Moore\u2019s novel and will serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. \u201cWe love making TV and can\u2019t wait to bring The God of the Woods<\/i> to life with our partners at Sony and Netflix,\u201d stated Moore and Hannah in an interview with Tudum<\/a>. \u201cWe hope everyone falls in love (and hate) with these characters as much as we have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additional executive producers include Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty.<\/p>\n

Netflix offers this description of the new series:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe God of the Woods<\/em> is a multi-generational drama series set in the Adirondacks, exploring the Van Laar family\u2019s dark secrets, class tensions, and the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family\u2019s summer camp\u2014in the wake of an earlier family tragedy that may be related. As the past and present collide, the Van Laars\u2019 wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power.\u201d<\/p>\n

Condon will play Alice Van Laar, described by Netflix: \u201cHardened by the grief of a past family tragedy and trapped in a contemptuous marriage, Alice is forced to face the unimaginable when her 13-year-old daughter goes missing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Condon\u2019s credits include F1<\/em><\/a>, Train Dreams<\/em>, Night Swim<\/em><\/a>, and In the Land of Saints and Sinners<\/em>. Condon recently wrapped up work on Pressure<\/em>, based on David Haig\u2019s stage play, co-starring Brendan Fraser<\/a> and Andrew Scott.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
