More than three decades after first meeting on the ABC special Circus of the Stars, Young and the Restless star Tracey Bregman<\/a> recently had a surprise reunion with Jamie Lee Curtis<\/a>\u2014 at 30,000 feet.<\/p>\nBregman, 62, shared a photo on Instagram showing the pair seated next to one another on a flight, capturing what she described as a full-circle moment years in the making.<\/p>\n
“How wonderful after all these years, we get seated next to each other on a very early morning flight.,” Bregman wrote in the caption. “What a joy it has been for me, my childhood dear friend, to watch you rise. To watch you take hold of your incredible career and watch it grow to even higher heights. You are an inspiration!! And thanks for holding Ivy so I could tinkle! Curtis, 67, also shared the same image on her own Instagram account, reflecting on she and Bregman’s shared history and the unexpected nature of their reunion.<\/p>\n
“So fun to have my old friend @traceybregman1 as my airplane spouse! We spoke of when we first met on the ABC show of Circus of the Stars whenI flew on the trapeze and reconnected now, both deeply involved in our lives and our families and our friendships,” the Oscar-winning actress wrote.<\/p>\n
The pair first crossed paths early in their careers, while participating in Circus of the Stars, a celebrity variety special that aired throughout the 1970s, \u201980s and \u201990s. The program featured stars taking on circus-style performances, often pushing them far outside their comfort zones \u2014 including Curtis\u2019 memorable trapeze act.<\/p>\n
Curtis \u2014 the daughter of actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh \u2014 was at the time acting on the television series Operation Petticoat, and as she recounted in a 2024 Facebook post<\/a>, decided to participate in the variety show on a whim.<\/p>\n“In 1978 or 1979, when I was on a TV series called Operation Petticoat there was a show called Circus of the Stars and they couldn’t find anyone to do the flying trapeze and so I volunteered,” she wrote in 2024. “I went out to the valley to the home of Bob Yerkes, who became my teacher. He had a flying rig in his backyard, which was disconcerting since you’re standing HIGH on the platform, staring at over the roofs of houses and you realize how high up you are.”<\/p>\n

I performed the trick during the telecast of the show and had fallen my first time trying it, and then managed, somehow, to land it. Years later, I ended up flying high under the helicopter during the movie True Lies, and I’m sure the confidence that I had in that moment was because of the safety measures and expertise of the professionals that Bob Yerkes had instilled in me.”<\/p>\n
Yerkes died in 2014, with Curtis writing, “Rest in flight” in her remembrance post.<\/p>\n
Bregman, meanwhile, would go on to build a decades-long career in daytime television and has played Lauren Fenmore on The Young and the Restless<\/a> since 1983.<\/p>\n
