The concert will also be performed at two other churches in Pittsburgh on April 26 and May 2. For the first time, the\u00a0<em>schola\u00a0<\/em>will be joined by Franciscan University\u2019s Women\u2019s Choir.<\/p>\n<p>The concert is the final installment in a three-year series dedicated to the Holy Family. It follows\u00a0<em>The God Bearer<\/em>, which reflected on the Blessed Mother, and\u00a0<em>The Guardian<\/em>, centered on St. Joseph.\u00a0<em>The Logos<\/em>\u00a0turns to Christ as the Word of God, offering a typological meditation on the opening chapters of Genesis and the Gospel of John, moving from creation to the Incarnation.<\/p>\n<p>The program is divided into two parts. The first half draws on the Old Testament, featuring wordless choral works that evoke the mystery of creation before the coming of Christ. The second half shifts to the New Testament, incorporating scriptural and historical texts that illuminate Christ as the Word made flesh, with a particular focus on the Incarnation.<\/p>\n<p>Originally founded as a liturgical choir, the\u00a0<em>Schola Cantorum Franciscana<\/em>\u00a0has expanded its mission more broadly to foster encounters with Christ through the beauty of the Church\u2019s sacred music, presenting concert programs rooted in theological themes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The Schola Cantorum Franciscana<\/em>\u00a0and Women\u2019s Choir offer their finest gifts to lead audiences into an encounter with Christ through beauty,\u201d said Dr. Vincent Rone, adjunct professor of sacred music and conductor of the\u00a0<em>schola<\/em>. \u201cThere is perhaps no more fitting way to do this than through music, the art form the Church has long held in highest esteem. We invite all to join us for an evening of prayer and reflection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Franciscan University campus performance, the\u00a0<em>Schola Cantorum Franciscana<\/em>\u00a0will present\u00a0<em>The Logos<\/em>\u00a0at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3250 California Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at Epiphany Church, 184 Washington Place in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p>Members of Franciscan University\u2019s Women\u2019s Choir will also lead the music for a Traditional Latin Mass at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church on Sunday, April 26, at 11:00 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The performances are free and open to the public.
