Critics are certainly not loving Jonah Hill<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s new movie.<\/p>\n Hill is known for starring in comedy movies like 2005\u2019s The 40-Year-Old Virgin, 2007\u2019s Superbad, 2012\u2019s 22 Jump Street, and 2013\u2019s This Is the End, while he\u2019s also been nominated for Academy Awards for his performances in 2011\u2019s Moneyball and 2013\u2019s The Wolf of Wall Street.<\/p>\n Hill made his feature film directorial debut in 2018 with Mid90s. Following a 2022 documentary called Stutz, he\u2019s now made a new movie, Outcome<\/a>, which is now available to stream on Apple TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n The synopsis reads, \u201cReef Hawk, Hollywood\u2019s poster child since age six, is not okay. When he learns about an extortion plot tied to a mysterious video, Reef preemptively sets out on a redemption tour to make amends, confront his demons, and avoid getting canceled.\u201d<\/p>\n The cast includes Keanu Reeves<\/a> as Reef Hawk, Hill as Ira Slitz, Cameron Diaz<\/a> as Kyle, and Matt Bomer<\/a> as Xander.<\/p>\n At the time of this article\u2019s publication, Outcome has a 27 percent Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> with 26 reviews. Critics are lambasting it for not being funny and having a bunch of tonal clashes. Many are praising Reeves for trying to make the film work; however, they also believe that the script lets him down.<\/p>\n The A.V. Club<\/a>\u2019s Tim Grierson said that the movie \u201cis not remotely successful,\u201d and said that the movie \u201cquickly scurries away\u201d from any kind of moment of true self-reflection from Hill. Grierson noted the movie has \u201cmany unfunny sequences\u201d and believes \u201cthe audience deserves an apology.\u201d<\/p>\n TheWrap<\/a>\u2019s Matt Goldberg said that Outcome is \u201cpainfully broad both thematically and comically,\u201d while The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>\u2019s David Rooney said \u201cthere\u2019s no anchoring humanity\u201d that makes any of the film\u2019s characters feel real. Rooney added, \u201cSadly, there\u2019s no trace here of the authentic fondness for his characters that illuminated Hill\u2019s directing debut, Mid90s.
