ROCHESTER, N.Y. \u2014 Upstate New York\u2019s hardcore music scene rallied together to help out one of their own. A charity concert was held at Montage Music Hall on Friday. Back on March 14, Shawn Hermann\u2019s house burned down. He\u2019s the guitarist for Syracuse-based metal band \u201cWhen Skies Decide.\u201d<\/p>\n

His band organized with a couple local punk and metal bands to host a charity show, with all the proceeds going to Hermann and his family as they pick up the pieces. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s indescribable. Just, so much love,\u201d Hermann said. <\/p>\n

Matt Finley, drummer, explained the spirit of the scene. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn a mosh pit, what do you do when somebody goes down? Pull em back up, man. You pull em up. That\u2019s what this community is,\u201d Finley said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciate seeing everybody coming together. It\u2019s really wonderful,\u201d Hermann said. <\/p>\n
