From live music to packed crowds, the atmosphere reflected a festival that hasn\u2019t missed a beat.<\/p>\n
Organizers say the road back hasn\u2019t been easy. Over its 12-year history, the festival faced financial strain, was rained out twice, and even took a year-long hiatus.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been quite a journey. We had to take a year off because it was our physical responsibility as a nonprofit,\u201d said Grymes Cannon, founding board member of the Gasparilla Music Festival.<\/p>\n
Despite those challenges, thousands are expected to attend the three-day event, which features music across three stages, along with food and art vendors.<\/p>\n
Community impact at the core<\/b><\/h2>\n
Beyond the music, organizers emphasize the festival\u2019s deeper mission \u2014 giving back.<\/p>\n
Through its \u201cRecycled Tunes\u201d program, more than $200,000 worth of instruments have been donated to local schools, helping support music education across the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re here for a reason\u2026 we love to see events like this bring community and attraction and excitement to the area,\u201d said Zeus Cordeiro, general manager of Coppertail Tasting Room.<\/p>\n
Spotlight on local talent<\/b><\/h2>\n
The festival also serves as a platform for homegrown artists like Marc Anthony Little, local artist known as \u2018MA\u2019, who was commissioned to create this year\u2019s festival poster.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt just pays homage to all of the music that started here,\u201d Little said.<\/p>\n
For Little, the opportunity is especially meaningful.<\/p>\n
\u201cI used to own a limousine service\u2026 I used to take all the talent to and from, so it\u2019s a full circle moment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
A new home, a fresh start<\/b><\/h2>\n
This year marks the festival\u2019s debut at Meridian Fields \u2014 a reimagined space near Water Street and Channelside that organizers say offers room to grow.<\/p>\n
\u201cLetting everybody come and have this sense of discovery\u2026 we\u2019re very excited about it and it was an absolute success,\u201d said Cannon.<\/p>\n
With more than 50 artists spanning multiple genres, the momentum continues through the final day Sunday \u2014 capping off a comeback year that\u2019s striking a chord across Tampa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
