Author Benedetta Baldin<\/strong> – 12.4.2026<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n Guitarist Jeff Loomis discussed the new lineup of Nevermore,<\/a><\/b> which debuted live on April 1 at IF Performance Hall Be\u015fikta\u015f in Istanbul, Turkey, in an interview with Brazil\u2019s Headbangers News, as per Blabbermouth<\/a>. The band\u2019s most recent members, Jack Cattoi on guitar, Semir \u00d6zerkan on bass, and new vocalist Berzan \u00d6nen, join Loomis and drummer Van Williams in the current version of Nevermore.<\/b> Jeff stated this about the formation of the new Nevermore <\/b>lineup. <\/p>\n It definitely took \u2014 it took some doing. It took a while to get everything finetuned to the way we liked it, to make sure that it was even going to be possible. And that happened with finding the right people to complete the job. And we had to audition quite a few people to make sure that we found the right people that could actually do it. So, we\u2019re very, very fortunate that we have\u00a0Mr. Berzan \u00d6nen\u00a0on vocals,\u00a0Mr. Semir \u00d6zerkan\u00a0on bass, and\u00a0Mr. Jack Cattoi\u00a0on guitar. So these are the three new members. And, of course, it\u2019s still me and\u00a0Van<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 me on guitar and\u00a0Van\u00a0on drums. And, yes, we just had our first show just a few days ago in Istanbul. And it went really, really well. The crowd was phenomenal. They sang along to all the songs and really just made us feel welcome. And now we\u2019re coming down to South America to do some more shows. So we\u2019re really, really excited.<\/em><\/p>\n Jeff addressed the absence of singer Warrel Dane, who passed away in 2017, from Nevermore<\/b>\u2018s <\/b>current lineup. <\/p>\n The initial talks, back when\u00a0Van\u00a0and I first started talking about [putting\u00a0Nevermore\u00a0back together], was, can it be done? And I think so. If you can find the right people that can perform the songs in the correct way, it\u00a0can\u00a0be done. We weren\u2019t looking for a\u00a0Warrel Dane clone either. We were looking for somebody that could still sing the songs, but also had his own personal style. So that\u2019s what we were looking for from the very beginning, and that\u2019s what I believe we found. And we\u2019re very happy.<\/em><\/p>\n When asked how the addition of three new musicians would impact Nevermore<\/b>\u2018s <\/b>overall sound moving forward, Loomis responded as follows. <\/p>\n The core of the\u00a0Nevermore sound is not ever really going to go away. And I think that the core, you could say that that would be me and\u00a0Van, where we\u2019re writing in the style of\u00a0Nevermore\u00a0and it\u2019s still holding its own weight there. But I think when it comes down to longevity in bands, you\u2019ll always notice that everybody contributes. Like a band like\u00a0Rush, for instance \u2014 everybody\u2019s contributing something in that band. And we don\u2019t wanna have\u00a0Nevermore\u00a0just be the\u00a0Van-and-Jeff\u00a0show. We wanna have the other guys contribute as well. We wanna have\u00a0Berzan\u00a0contribute lyrics. We want him to contribute lyric melodies. We want\u00a0Jack\u00a0and\u00a0Semir\u00a0to contribute riffs. So, will that change the core sound of\u00a0Nevermore? I don\u2019t really think so. I think it\u2019s just gonna add to the dynamic and make it cooler, \u2019cause there\u2019s gonna be other little elements of cool musical passages that are gonna be available now to use. And I think it\u2019s just gonna be that much more interesting for the listener. It\u2019ll still have the same core elements as it did back in the day, but it\u2019ll be new and interesting with a new vibe, so to speak. And that\u2019s kind of what we\u2019re looking for for the new\u00a0Nevermore.<\/em><\/p>\n Following the recent announcement that Nevermore<\/b> has signed a deal with Reigning Phoenix Music, Loomis also discussed the potential for fans to hear some new Nevermore<\/b> content in the near future. This is what he stated.<\/p>\n Now we\u2019re just focusing on new music. So, we\u2019re gonna spend much of May and June and July putting the new record together. And we\u2019re hoping by the first quarter of \u201927 we\u2019ll have new music done and ready for people to hear, if not just a new single, at least.
