Online<\/a><\/p>\n Shemar Moore<\/strong> will always be young and restless at his core.<\/span><\/p>\n Ever since the <\/span>The Young and the Restless<\/span><\/a> actor began his career on the soap opera in 1994, Genoa City has had his heart\u2014which is why he was happy to make a brief return for three episodes of the show between April 7 and 9.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTo be here at <\/span>The Young and the Restless<\/span>, it truly is coming home,\u201d Shemar said in an April 7 appearance on the show\u2019s YouTube series <\/span>Y&R Insider<\/span><\/a>. \u201cThey have asked me throughout the years to come visit and play a little bit, and you never say no.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n After all, the 55-year-old added, \u201cThis is where it all started for me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Indeed, the <\/span>S.W.A.T. <\/span>star\u2014dad to 3-year-old daughter <\/span>Frankie<\/strong> with ex <\/span>Jesiree Dizon<\/strong>\u2014credits late show creator <\/span>Bill Bell<\/strong> for taking a chance on a \u201cscared\u201d young actor and launching his decades-long career. <\/span><\/p>\n More from E! Online<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWithout that moment and without my years here, I wouldn\u2019t be sitting here talking to you,\u201d he continued. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t be blessed with the 33 years that this game has given me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Shemar\u2014who won a Daytime Emmy in 2000 for portraying Malcolm Winters\u2014previously detailed how <\/span>The Young and the Restless<\/span> served as his acting foundation, too. <\/span><\/p>\n CBS<\/p>\n \u201cI call my career high school, college, and graduate school: Eight years on <\/span>Young and Restless<\/span>\u2026was high school,\u201d he told <\/span>TV Insider<\/span><\/a> in an interview published April 2. \u201cThen 11 years on <\/span>Criminal Minds<\/span> was college, then eight years on <\/span>S.W.A.T.<\/span> was graduate school.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n But while Shemar has built a stacked TV resume since <\/span>The Young and the Restless<\/span>, he admitted to not always being confident in his abilities.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIn the beginning, I was scared to death and nervous and insecure,\u201d he continued, \u201cand really thought they\u2019re gonna realize I suck and tap me on the shoulder and say, \u2018Oops, we made a mistake, go on home.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n However, Shemar\u2019s late costar <\/span>Kristoff St. John<\/strong>, who played his onscreen brother on the soap opera, extended their fictional connection to the real world.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cKristoff wrapped me up, and he said, \u2018I got you. I\u2019m gonna help you find your way,\u2019\u201d he explained. \u201cHe was a big brother to me on the screen. He was a big brother to me and a mentor in real life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n And now Shemar is grateful to return to where he and Kristoff built their friendship. As he put it, \u201cI feel humbled and honored and nostalgic.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Of course, Shemar isn\u2019t the only actor who got his start on a soap opera.
