NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) \u2014 Nashville\u2019s neighborhood in the north\u00a0once served as the home of\u00a0numerous\u00a0country music artists, including stars like Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn.<\/p>\n
Brian Mansfield with the Nashville Musical History Tour<\/a><\/strong> gave News 2 an\u00a0up close\u00a0look\u00a0at where\u00a0some notable musicians once hung their hats. To start out the tour, he showed News 2 crews Waylon Jennings\u2019 1966\u00a0\u201cLeavin\u2019\u00a0Town\u201d record cover taken along Gallatin\u00a0Pike.<\/p>\n READ MORE | How Johnny Cash saved a Madison train station from destruction<\/b> <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cAs the musicians and artists began to make some real money, they moved a little bit farther out into\u00a0Madison, which was really the booming suburb in the late \u201940s to the early \u201960s,\u201d Mansfield explained. \u201c\u2026If you follow the city directories, or where people live, you can see the migration path from Dickerson to Madison to Goodlettsville to Hendersonville<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 where Johnny Cash<\/a><\/strong> and Roy Orbison and in the early years, Taylor Swift<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0lived out\u00a0in Hendersonville.\u201d<\/p>\n One home on\u00a0Oakdell\u00a0Avenue was once the home of the\u00a0Everly\u00a0Brothers and their parents.<\/p>\n \u201cThey were living here when they recorded\u00a0\u2018Bye\u00a0Bye\u00a0Love\u2019\u00a0and that record took off and made them big stars,\u201d Mansfield said.<\/p>\n Roughly a\u00a0mile away on\u00a0Barbara\u00a0Drive,\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0find a home\u00a0Loretta\u00a0Lynn\u00a0lived in in the \u201960s.<\/p>\n (Photo: WKRN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Former home of the Everly Brothers (Photo: WKRN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Former home of the Everly Brothers (Photo: WKRN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Loretta Lynn\u2019s former home (Photo: WKRN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Patsy Cline\u2019s former home (Photo: WKRN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n (Photo: WKRN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n \u201cShe had her first top 10 hit when she was living in this\u00a0house, it was called \u2018Success,’\u201d Mansfield said. \u201cAnd then once she had\u00a0some,\u00a0she moved out to Goodlettsville for a couple of years before buying the farm out in Hurricane Mills.\u201d<\/p>\n On\u00a0Marthona\u00a0Drive,\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0find\u00a0the former home of\u00a0Patsy\u00a0Cline and her husband\u00a0Charlie\u00a0Dick.\u00a0Although she\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0living here at the time,\u00a0not far from\u00a0the site of the car crash that nearly killed on Old Hickory Boulevard.\u00a0However,\u00a0she did write\u00a0one of her\u00a0famous songs\u00a0while\u00a0living there.<\/p>\n \u201cThe people\u00a0of the radio would talk about the\u00a0wreck,\u00a0they would play the song and having somebody in a car wreck with a song called \u2018I Fall to Pieces,\u2019 that\u2019s just kind of radio gold,\u201d Mansfield said. \u201cThe song just blew up while she was in the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n News 2\u2019s final stop was the former home of\u00a0Jim\u00a0Reeves, where\u00a0recording artist\u00a0and\u00a0musician George\u00a0Bradfute\u00a0now\u00a0lives. WKRN caught up with Bradfute as he was returning\u00a0home, and\u00a0he was willing to show the crew a behind-the-scenes look at the home\u2019s basement, which includes a recording studio and even a bomb shelter.\u00a0An original piece of tile, featuring a music note from Reeves\u2019\u00a0downstairs, also\u00a0remains.<\/p>\n\n
