Pete Davidson <\/b><\/a>is getting candid about his reasons for getting sober.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to rehab this time. I was like, \u2018I\u2019m gonna I\u2019m gonna actually do it so I could save some of this money I\u2019m making and stop blowing it on rehab,\u2019\u201d Davidson, 32, recalled during his Saturday, April 11, comedy show<\/span><\/a> at Las Vegas\u2019 The Fontainebleau, per footage obtained by Us Weekly. <\/i>\u201cI did family week, [which is] when, with your therapist, you Zoom your family and they tell you how difficult it is for them to watch you do drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Davidson, it was particularly \u201cbrutal\u201d to video-call his mom from the treatment facility.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember my mom popped on the screen, and she was like, \u2018Peter, it\u2019s really hard to be your mom. It\u2019s not a fun job,\u201d the Saturday Night Live <\/i>alum recalled of the virtual visit. \u201cI was still, like, newly sober, [thinking], \u2018Well, you\u2019re not f**king that special. What do you do?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSeveral of Hollywood\u2019s biggest stars have been candid about their sobriety journeys over the years. Kelly Osbourne, who previously talked about being sober for six years, revealed in April 2021 that she had suffered a relapse and was working on next steps. \u201cNot proud of it. But I am back on track,\u201d she wrote via [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pete is the son of Amy Davidson <\/b>and Scott Davidson<\/b>, the latter who died in the line of duty while responding to the September 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City.<\/p>\n

During his rehab call with Amy, the comedian finally decided to quit using drugs and alcohol.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe went, \u2018Enough.\u2019 She f***ed me up. She was, like, \u2018Peter, \u2018It\u2019s very hard to be your mom because I wake up every morning with the fear that I\u2019ll turn on the news and see that my son has died,\u2019\u201d Pete added of his mom. \u201cShe told me all this on Zoom \u2014 <\/span>from the house that I bought her on drugs. I was like, \u2018Someone\u2019s getting used to things.\u2019 That got me sober.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pete is especially glad to be sober now that he is a father. (Pete and his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt<\/b>, welcomed daughter Scottie Rose<\/a> in December 2025.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPete Davidson has always been a family man. The comedian grew close with his mom, Amy Waters, and his sister, Casey Davidson, after his father, Scott Davidson, who was a New York City firefighter, died in service during the September 11th attacks. In fact, Pete\u2019s 2020 film The King of Staten Island is a tribute [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThank God that I\u2019m sober,\u201d Pete said on the \u201cThis Past Weekend\u201d podcast<\/span><\/a> in September 2025 shortly before Hewitt, 29, gave birth. \u201cI wish I had more time of sobriety \u2018cause it\u2019s only been like a year and change, but I\u2019m very grateful that it happened now and with Elsie. In other relationships or when I was you knowI was a drug addict and very mentally deranged, that was my goal. \u2018I need to have a kid. I need to get married\u2019 \u2018cause that\u2019s how I grew up.\u201d<\/p>\n

In hindsight, Pete said that he was \u201cnot ready\u201d to have a family when he was still struggling with substance abuse issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stopped dating and I was, like, \u2018I need to f***ing get better and I need to be in a place where I could even have a healthy relationship,\u2019\u201d Pete told podcast host Pete Von <\/b>last September. \u201cI wasn\u2019t looking for a relationship or looking to have a baby. It all just kind of happened at once, and it\u2019s been like awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n
