A LOT OF<\/strong> CHARLES<\/strong> Melton’s biggest fans might still think of him as a teenager. After all, they came to know him as Reggie Mantle, the resident jock on the CW’s gonzo bananas teen drama Riverdale, <\/em>based on the Archie <\/em>comics<\/a>. But while Melton looks back fondly<\/a> on his teen drama experience, his career is nowhere near that anymore.<\/p>\n

Now 35, he’s not only long past Riverdale <\/em>in his career as an actor\u2014leading the second season of Netflix’s hit Beef <\/em>and later this year set to headline a thriller<\/a> from acclaimed arthouse director Nicolas Winding Refn\u2014but he’s also recently become a father.<\/p>\n

Melton, who grew up moving all around the country (with a stop in Germany) due to his father’s military career, always wanted to be a dad. But he wasn’t ever certain that he would get the chance.<\/p>\n

Just a few weeks before he sat with Men’s Health <\/em>for that cover interview<\/a>, Melton’s daughter was born. His partner, director and photographer Camille Summers-Valli, had announced her pregnancy on Instagram back in January. Melton revealed the birth of his daughter on his own Instagram in March.<\/p>\n

The actor is clearly excited and ready for this new stage in his life. While he’s moved around a lot and gone through several different phases in his career, he’s also someone who’s always committed and ready to see something through 100 percent. \u201cMy flagpole is deeply rooted wherever I go,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
