Meet the Cast of Big Mistakes<\/span>\u00a92023 NETFLIX, INC.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Have you ever imagined what you\u2019d do if someone tried to blackmail you? For sitcom legend Dan Levy, that\u2019s an anxious rumination he knows all too well. Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show<\/a> recently, Levy confessed: \u201cI have an irrational fear of being blackmailed into organized crime. I don\u2019t know why\u2026I wouldn\u2019t do well. So when you\u2019re writing a show, you think about the worst-case scenario you would find yourself in, and it\u2019s this.\u201d<\/p>\n

That fear became the seed for Levy\u2019s new Netflix comedy series Big Mistakes, his first as part of an overall deal with the streamer. As he went about assembling a creative team for the show, Levy asked himself who else, like him, might be equally (and hilariously) incapable of handling blackmail? Apparently, the answer came to him immediately: I Love LA creator and actress Rachel Sennott.<\/p>\n

Soon, Sennott\u2014who previously worked alongside Levy in HBO\u2019s The Idol\u2014joined the actor in developing Big Mistakes. The two spent six months workshopping the series over Zoom before meeting in person for five intense days, nailing down the pilot in just one<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Big Mistakes finds Levy revisiting the dysfunctional family dynamics he mastered in Schitt\u2019s Creek, but this time with much higher stakes. The action begins when Nicky (Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega) enter a jewelry store to find a gift for their ailing Nonna\u2019s birthday, and Morgan makes the ill-fated, impulsive decision to steal a diamond necklace. Sadly, their Nonna\u2019s dead by the time the siblings arrive with her gift, and the damage is already done: When the shop\u2019s staff discover the theft, the siblings are blackmailed, forced (at gunpoint) into a delivery truck, and pushed into a series of escalating, dangerous assignments.<\/p>\n
