Truck Violence<\/strong> are the latest act to sign to The Flenser<\/strong>, have announced their second full-length, the weathervane is my body<\/i>, due out June 26th. The new album marks their first release through the label.<\/p>\n Pre-order the weathervane is my body<\/i> here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Canadian hardcore\/folk-leaning outfit relocated from Alberta to Montr\u00e9al as teenagers, with guitarist\/banjoist Paul Lecours <\/strong>and vocalist Karsyn Henderson<\/strong> building the band alongside bassist Chris Clegg<\/strong> and percussionist Thomas Hart<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n The band handled the recording, mixing and visuals in-house, framing the project as a fully DIY effort. A first single, “New Jesus,” is out now alongside a new music video directed by a;skdjf;aksldf<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Henderson shared the following:<\/p>\n ‘New Jesus’ is a rant about the blatant fascistic slide occurring both to the south of our border and on screen. It is loosely about the ABC\u2014Trump settlement and the post-January 6th election fraud cases. The lack of any broader moral compulsions beyond centralizing power on the political right has led to a culture of post-truth, where there is no reward in accuracy unless it leads to an augmenting of one’s political capital, which it rarely does.” He continues, “This is as destructive in politics as it is in art. There is surprising apathy among young people in regards to this slide, who believe the acquisition of power and the subsequent lording over that occurs, is merely nature, essentially; what will happen, will happen. With these lines of thinking, you find more people sympathetic to this mode, if it is both natural and inevitable, why not acclimate and reap the rewards.
