Ruby Rose publicly accused singer Katy Perry of sexual assault yesterday in a series of posts on the social media platform Threads, saying the alleged incident occurred at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne when Rose was in her early 20s.<\/p>\n
The accusation came in response to a post about Perry\u2019s reaction to Justin Bieber\u2019s Coachella set.<\/p>\n
\u201cKaty Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks,\u201d Rose wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n In subsequent posts, Rose described the alleged incident in graphic detail.<\/p>\n \u201cShe didn\u2019t kiss me. She saw me \u2018resting\u2019 on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted on her,\u201d Rose wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n Rose, now 40, said she previously recounted the story publicly but softened its framing. \u201cAfter it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a \u2018funny little drunk story\u2019 because I didn\u2019t know how else to handle it. Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn\u2019t a good person. Instead I got attacked by.. everyone,\u201d she wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n Rose said the passage of time made the disclosure no less difficult. \u201cI was only in my early 20s. I\u2019m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly. Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me,\u201d she wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n Rose also addressed the particular challenges of speaking out about abuse by women. \u201cAs a woman, for a myriad of reasons, opening up about W on W violence and sexual abuse, seems to be 100 times harder than speaking about the male predators, at least for me,\u201d she wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n Rose said she does not intend to file a police report related to the Perry allegation, citing the burden such proceedings place on survivors. \u201cEveryone? lol, no just 2 from the industry I think, and about 10 outside of it. Let\u2019s say each case took\u00a0only<\/em>\u00a06 months to resolve and I did them back to back. You\u2019re asking too much of Victims to spend 6 years in court reliving their abuse,\u201d she wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a follow-up post, Rose elaborated on her decision not to pursue legal action. \u201cYeah, not interested in filing a report over this, not when I haven\u2019t even filed a report for the numerous rapes at the hands of grown men. But she is more than welcome to sue me (she won\u2019t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people). Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won\u2019t want me discussing. The psychological manipulation was strong with that one,\u201d she wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n Rose described the emotional weight of coming forward. \u201cBefore I open up about something incredibly raw and traumatic, I tell myself \u2018it\u2019s ok, you don\u2019t need people to believe you, you just need to get it out of your poor body, before it gives you cancer.\u2019 But then I see this post and \u2026 tears consume me, in a good way.
