Bruce Springsteen\u2019s<\/span><\/a> former drummer is hitting back at the celebrity.land after it<\/span> published a story<\/span><\/a> where he reportedly suggested that his former \u201cBoss\u201d needs to respect<\/span> President Donald Trump.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Vini Lopez, who manned the skins for Springsteen between 1968 and 1974, was the subject of a Post article published Sunday with the headline, \u201cEx-Longtime Springsteen Drummer Vini Lopez Says Woke Boss Should Respect Trump.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Although Springsteen is currently<\/span> lashing out at Trump on his current tour,<\/span><\/a> the article makes it sound as if Lopez has a different opinion of the president.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n At one point, he is quoted as saying, \u201cYou gotta have respect for the president,\u201d and \u201cTrump is the president of the United States \u2014 everyone should have respect for him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Lopez is also quoted as saying that if he were standing next to Trump, he would \u201chave mucho respect for the man,\u201d but added with a chuckle that he \u201cwouldn\u2019t talk to him about anything that\u2019s going on\u201d politically.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n He also claimed that he met Trump before he was president while caddying at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, and claimed he was very nice and inquisitive. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Lopez also claimed Trump told him to tell Springsteen, \u201cI\u2019m his biggest fan.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n But on Monday, Lopez took to social media to criticize the article, claiming he was misquoted and misrepresented.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIf you read that NY Post thing I want you to know that first of all that Headline is a pure Lie. I never said that,\u201d he said on Facebook.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Lopez insisted he \u201cwould never call Bruce woke,\u201d and insisted he \u201cmade it clear to her that I stand with Bruce.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n He also said that he told the reporter of the Post piece that he respects \u201cthe office of the Presidentcy [sic].!
