A pundit on British TV didn\u2019t mince words on Monday when asked her reaction to the bizarre image <\/span>Donald Trump<\/span><\/a> posted Sunday that basically <\/span>depicted himself as Jesus Christ<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In fact, Marina Purkiss described the president with a fairly harsh slur \u2015 at least in religious circles \u2015 saying he is the \u201cAntichrist.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

During a segment with British talk show host Jeremy Vine<\/span><\/a>, Purkiss admitted to being shocked by the image the president posted.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just gonna say this, right? I am a person that was raised a Catholic \u2014 I did all the sacraments, I read the book, you know,\u201d she said, adding that while she has lost her \u201cfaith,\u201d she still finds Trump\u2019s post \u201cdeeply, deeply offensive.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Then she went scorched earth on the president.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHow dare you? That is blasphemous. The picture is blasphemous, it\u2019s a huge disrespect. That in itself is the breaking of a commandment,\u201d Purkiss said.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

After noting that Trump had, by her count, \u201cbroken eight of the 10 commandments,\u201d Purkiss declared, \u201cThis guy, in my opinion, is the Antichrist.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cNo wonder he doesn\u2019t like the pope,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The image was removed<\/a> from Trump\u2019s account late Monday morning. The president then told reporters he thought the picture showed him as a doctor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Trump\u2019s post came while his current war with Iran has been <\/span>heavily criticized<\/span><\/a> by<\/span> Pope Leo XIV,<\/span><\/a> the Catholic Church\u2019s first American-born pontiff.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although his team has previously posted images depicting Trump <\/span>as Superman<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>on Mount Rushmore<\/span><\/a> and even <\/span>as the pope<\/span><\/a>, the Trump-as-Jesus post seemed to be a bridge too far with many people on social media who called it <\/span>\u201cblasphemous\u201d and \u201cderanged.\u201d<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In fact, Purkiss wasn\u2019t the only prominent person to describe Trump with the \u201cA-word\u201d label.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Axios co-founder Jim VandeHei didn\u2019t call Trump the \u201cAntichrist\u201d when he appeared on \u201cMorning Joe\u201d Monday, but he warned the president that posting memes suggesting he\u2019s Christ<\/a> could alienate his supporters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI think he is playing with fire with the base. And if you look at where his standing is, like, he should be worried,\u201d VandeHei said. \u201cI\u2019m surprised his advisers didn\u2019t say, \u2018Come on, man. Like, at some point you\u2019re pushing this too far. Your favorable ratings are already relatively low.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
