The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seen to take part in a garden therapy workshop with patients at the Royal Children\u2019s Hospital in Melbourne during their visit Down Under.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The couple were conducting the trip as part of what many dubbed an ‘unofficial royal visit’ to the Commonwealth nation, hugging patients as hundreds of people turned out to see the pair at the start of their Australia trip.<\/p>\n

Crowds gathered at the children\u2019s hospital to greet the couple, with Harry and Meghan speaking to children and posing for photographs with patients along the walkways of the Royal Children\u2019s Hospital on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Four-year-old patient Lily held up a hand-drawn sign that said: \u201cWelcome Harry and Meghan\u201d. <\/p>\n

She presented a flower to the duchess as they arrived.<\/p>\n

Meghan hugged Lily after being presented with the gifts and told her: \u201cOh my gosh, this is so sweet. I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n

After being shown Lily\u2019s sign, Harry said: \u201cNice to meet you, Lily. That\u2019s beautiful. How long did it take?\u201d<\/p>\n

Seen to smell plants and flowers as the media watched on, Harry was seen to wear a navy jacket, white shirt and metal bracelets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Asked if he would like to take some gumtree home, the royal joked: \u201cI would, but I think I\u2019d probably get arrested at some point.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meghan, wearing a Karen Gee navy sleeveless dress, asked the patients: \u201cDo you find that different stories and memories come out that you weren\u2019t expecting?\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple visited wards at the hospital and met patients with eating disorders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Following the Royal Children\u2019s Hospital visit, the Duchess of Sussex visited a women\u2019s refuge in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

Meghan donned an apron and served frittata to people at the centre, run by McAuley Community Services for Women, which supports women and children experiencing family violence, homelessness and related challenges.<\/p>\n

After serving several people, the duchess asked \u201cis anyone else hungry?\u201d, while looking and smiling at the press and other people gathered in the centre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meghan then sat down at a table and joined people eating food, telling them: \u201cWe landed here this morning so my jet lag hasn\u2019t quite hit yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

The centre provides round-the-clock crisis accommodation, refuge services and longer-term housing, alongside programmes focused on recovery, wellbeing and independence.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
