Kids of all ages enjoyed finding eggs, taking an up-close
\nlook at first responders\u2019 vehicles and even got their photos taken with the Easter
\nBunny on Saturday during the city\u2019s Jerry & Joy Clinger Easter Egg Hunt at
\nMount Vernon\u2019s Hiawatha Park.<\/p>\n

Mount Vernon Recreation Director Jeff Derr said that
\napproximately 4,800 eggs were hidden equally on the ball fields and lawns at Hiawatha
\nPark for the event. Children were divided into age groups \u2013 0-2, 3-4, 5-7, 8-11
\n\u2013 with each group having its own pile of eggs to discover.<\/p>\n

The event kicked off with a \u201cTouch A Truck\u201d event held by
\nthe Mount Vernon Police and Fire departments. Children and adults could climb
\ninside the MVPD vehicles, as well as a fire truck. Police officers and firefighters
\nwere on hand to explain what was inside the vehicles and also help the smaller
\nchildren get in and out of them.<\/p>\n

After touring the trucks, the Easter bunny was there, greeting
\neveryone with their bubbly personality and posing for photos with youngsters
\nand their families.<\/p>\n

Then came the big moment, when laughter and chaos erupted on
\nthe fields, with the egg hunt. This year, Derr said, they went to a staggered time
\nframe for the egg hunt, starting with the younger ones and working their way up
\nto the oldest.<\/p>\n

That, not only made for a smoother event, it allowed for
\nparents with children in different age groups to watch, or even help, all of
\ntheir children.<\/p>\n

The eggs were filled with candy and tickets for some special
\nprizes donated by businesses and organizations, just for the event.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
