We know we are getting into the heart of spring when the events calendars begin to overflow. That time is now.<\/span><\/p>\n Several of our favorite annual events\/series in Cape Girardeau are about to get started. A reminder:<\/span><\/p>\n The annual festival opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Show Me Center. The two-day extravaganza (also opening at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 19) will feature several standards \u2014 gaming tournaments, Cosplay Karaoke and plenty of vendors \u2014 as well as special guests detailing their acting exploits and answering fan questions. This year\u2019s guests include actors and voice actors \u2014 four of whom are \u201cDeath Note\u201d alums \u2014 Alessandro Juliani (\u201cDeath Note\u201d, \u201cBattlestar Galactica\u201d and \u201cSmallville\u201d), Brad Swaile (\u201cDeath Note\u201d, \u201cDragon Ball Z\u201d and \u201cX-Men: Evolution\u201d), Colleen Wheeler (\u201cDeath Note\u201d, \u201cKong: King of Atlantis\u201d and \u201cThe Willoughbys\u201d), Brian Drummond (\u201cDeath Note\u201d, \u201cSpider-Man Unlimited\u201d and \u201cInspector Gadget\u201d) and Ian James Corlett (\u201cDragon Ball Z\u201d, \u201cBeast Wars: Transformers\u201d and \u201cDestiny 2\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n Old Town Cape\u2019s Riverfront Market will open at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 2, running each Saturday through Oct. 31.<\/span><\/p>\n To call the weekly event just a farmers market is to grossly understate what the event has become.
