As he and his band gear up for their highly anticipated return<\/a> to the stage, No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont is speaking publicly about his Parkinson\u2019s disease diagnosis for the first time. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The California-born musician, 58, shared the news in a short video<\/a> posted to his Instagram account on Sunday. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cA number of years ago. I was experiencing a number of symptoms,\u201d he said in the clip. \u201cI went to my doctor, I went to a neurologist and I did a whole bunch of tests, and I was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson\u2019s disease.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n After acknowledging that it\u2019s \u201cbeen a struggle … every day,\u201d he went on to assure fans that he\u2019ll be performing at No Doubt\u2019s forthcoming residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, which kicks off<\/a> next month. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe good news is, I can still play music,\u201d he said. \u201cI can still play guitar, I\u2019ve been doing really well.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n There is no cure for Parkinson\u2019s, a neurodegenerative disease that can cause muscle stiffness, impaired speech and uncontrolled movement. According to the Mayo Clinic<\/a>, early symptoms of the disease include limb stiffness and persistent hand tremors. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n As of Tuesday, Dumont\u2019s post had received praise from some of his No Doubt bandmates. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cYou are such a beautiful soul, Tom!! I love you so much and can\u2019t wait get on stage with you!\u201d No Doubt trombonist Gabrial McNair wrote. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Drummer Adrian Young added: \u201cMy friend, bandmate, and hero\u2026\u2026I love you brother.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Led by singer Gwen Stefani, No Doubt is set to become the first female-fronted act to headline the Sphere since it first opened in 2023. The band added<\/a> six additional performances after its initially announced 12-show run sold out quickly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n After dominating the music charts in the 1990s and early 2000s with hits like \u201cJust a Girl\u201d and \u201cHella Good,\u201d No Doubt has remained largely inactive in recent years as Stefani and Dumont have pursued solo projects.
