Roots & Wings celebrates the sounds of some of the region\u2019s finest musicians, all in one special evening at Taghum Hall on Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n Calum MacPherson and Brie Faulk bring guitar and violin\/fiddle, and their combined roots in blues, bluegrass, country, celtic and classical to the Taghum Hall stage. Rylan Kewen draws on a diverse mix of musical influences, with a deep respect for the past masters and an ear to the future. And Kootenay Time \u2014 Kim Bater, Paula Snow, Mara Sand and Steve Quattrocchi \u2014 offers fine musicianship and just plain fun.<\/p>\n The affordable ticket price of $15 reflects that this enjoyable evening is also about fine-tuning Taghum Hall\u2019s brand-new sound system, with thanks to Columbia Basin Trust and RDCK Area F for financial assistance and a host of audio professionals who offered pro bono advice.<\/p>\n Taghum Hall also embraces spring with a work party on Sunday, April 26 from 9 a.m. t0 noon, aimed at sprucing up the grounds ahead of the burst of foliage we all know is coming. Folks are asked to bring gardening equipment, goodwill, and elbow grease. Plan to make new friends while helping out a well-loved community asset.<\/p>\n It may feel early to be thinking about summer and kids\u2019 activities, but parents-in-the-know are already on it and Taghum Hall has just opened registration for two summer camps.<\/p>\n Accomplished director, actor, and dancer Lindsay Clague and celebrated soprano and actor Rachel DeShon will lead Creative Kids Theatre Camp for ages seven to 12 from July 6 to 10. In August, KidsCAN Camp is back for crafty kids aged eight to 12 to learn baking, sewing, knitting and building with community mentors. Some bursaries are available for both.
